Were you able to make any progress on this yet?

I found these two which are compatible with BuddyPress:

    This one looks great:

You can see it in action here:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/wordpress-development/

    This one is very well-known:
    https://wpjobmanager.com/add-ons/
And, here is its BuddyPress compatibility add-on:

Thank you very much for the heads up and quick response. Is there a plugin or resource you can point us towards?

So, we now have a fantastic BuddyPress integration and our horizons have expanded!

Is there a plan to make a job board add-on for GD or are we advised to use one of the following?

    Any thoughts? Any case studies?

Sky theme by Cohhe supports easyReservations, but it hasn’t been updated in almost a year, has minimal non-premium support and has some pretty scathing reviews.

Wow, I just found all these bookings/reservations plugins:

I guess that rather than reinvent the wheel, you may as well make GD Events Add-on integrated with one or more of these.

Since, as per his conclusion, no single one of these plugins can be ideal for all usage cases, you’re probably best off integrating with at least the top 3 most popular ones.

    Hi Stiofan,

Thank you very much for the quick response.

It sure makes me dizzy trying to wrap my head around everything that is out there and make sense of it all – which is why I need you guys to improve how you explain your offerings and your roadmap for future development. I realize you guys have a lot on your plate, but am very much looking forward to those walk-throughs and improvements to the descriptions for each add-on.

    GD Events Add-on:
Yes, I can see the advantages of using the GD Events Add-on that you pointed out, so will be using it for these reasons.

    Alternative Plugins:
It’s hard to evaluate the other plugins I posted links for above. As a non-technical person, I just gravitate towards the one with the slickest looking website design and best marketing copy, which is not necessarily the best!

    What I Want:
In short, I’d like the GD Events Add-on to allow me to, “Create and manage events, including RSVP, ticket sales, guest lists and map integration, with more power and flexibility than Facebook Events and Eventbrite.”
This is the promise of WPMUdev’s Events+ plugin.
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/events-plus/

    How You Do It:
I don’t know if this means you guys should build everything yourself or perhaps integrate with plugins such as these:

    Reservations:
    https://www.checkfront.com/
    http://easyreservations.org/

    Ticket Sales:
    https://simpletix.com/
    http://tickera.com/
    http://woothemes.com/products/tickets-woocommerce/

    Sorting Feature Requests:
As for feature suggestions, may I suggest that your feature request voting system be split into separate sections for the core and each add-on, or perhaps for different functionality categories. That way, it’s easier to keep all of the community’s requests in one place and see patterns. Right now, it’s fragmented and no doubt people keep asking you the same questions or making similar requests. If I suggest a feature for events, I don’t know if it has already been suggested or requested before or not.

    Best regards,

    Hi Guust,

Thank you very much. I’ll review it with my developers.

I see my upload failed (was only 526KB…), so here it is:

Attached is a mockup of how I’d like to be able to make a search page for teachers. No need for map or showing address. Just use drop-down menus to filter the listings.

“Prefectures” (instead of state – we’re in Japan) – refers to the prefecture/state the teacher is based.

“Active Areas” refers to states the teacher is active in (or prefectures in the case of Japan, where we’re based).

I guess it’s not really the kind of application that Geodirectory was built for, but if this would be possible, please kindly let me know your thoughts on the best way to implement it.

So, perhaps an “Address Field Customizer” add-on is in order to tackle the various requests and use cases raised in this thread.

I agree with Paolo, the core plugin should stay lean and focused.

    Hi Paolo,

Actually we are considering removing options instead of adding other on top of the existing, because with this many options the core plugin is becoming heavier than we want it and it’s taking us in the opposite path we initially planned.

Most options are useful only for a minority of members and once set are never changed, so it’s better to work with code snippets, cutting database queries, improving page loading time.

    Makes sense.

However, rather than introducing methods that require customers to make child themes, perhaps you could make a new add-on module to sell which will offer options to set these various customizations to address fields. This way, you can make some money from selling the add-on.

    Best regards,
    Dylan Robertson

This is also an issue for our project.

We will go ahead with the suggested hack and use it in a child theme.

    @guust

Ok, thank you very much for clarifying.

Since custom coding by us will void the support and possibly interfere with future plugin updates, it seems like we’ll probably decide to use Geodirectory for location-based listings such as studios and find another plugin for yoga teachers.

But, I am not a technical person, so please advise if I am misunderstanding.

    @guust
Thank you very much for your kind and rapid response. Really appreciate the amazing value your team brings for such a low price.

What you showed looks ideal. However, it would be great if this could be built into the Geodirectory plugin as selectable options in the admin UI.

We are thinking that we would make two separate directory pages:

    1. For location-based listings such as yoga studios. This would work as usual.

    2. For yoga teacher listings that can be filtered by country, state and city.

For #2, is there a way to turn off maps completely? Yoga teachers will not want a map pinpoint because it is their home address. Also, we don’t want to confuse site visitors into thinking they can visit the teacher’s home.

Teachers just want to be listed under their Country, State (and sometimes, city). And, we want the site visitors to be able to search for a yoga teacher in their area by filtering listings by country, state and city.

How would you suggest we implement #2 above?

    Best regards,
    Dylan Robertson
