    Thanks. 3 more questions:

How do you remove a record from a list?

What are these supposed to do, and when will they be released?

It’s no longer necessary to do a review before adding a record to a list?

    Thanks for the quick response.
I would like to justify the expense to the client.
There are tons of posts in your support blog, and it’s virtually impossible for me to figure out what’s different. Sure would be nice to have a straightforward list of what to look for. Even a basic list from your memory would be appreciated.
    Thanks

aargh – the problem was an invalid post type

can you please ask the developers to provide a list of helpful error messages? A lot of time gets wasted when the program knows what the problem is but does not tell the user where to fix it.

the problem is especially bad when importing a large number of listings

I am requesting something like this:
    Row Problem(s)
221 invalid character in column 4
336 invalid post type, invalid character in column 6
348 invalid post type, invalid character in column 4
1262 blank title, invalid post type

Can you imagine how hard it would be to find these 4 errors in a file of 2000 rows if all I know is
“4 / 2000 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type/invalid characters used in data.”

    Woo Hoo! That worked.

One remaining issue: After my test import I get this message:

6 / 25 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type/invalid characters used in data.

It’s an invalid character problem. How do I know which rows have invalid characters, and which characters it does not like? Thanks!

My programmer suggested installing plugin ‘Disable Real MIME Check’ so I will try that. Will let you know in a minute

Yup, it’s a plugin conflict. Scripts-n-styles is the culprit. Thanks!

I resolved the problem with listings failing to load. The listing requires a category. Unfortunately, if
    1) no categories have been defined for the CPT,
    and
    2) you save a listing without a category
    Then
the listing is saved but there is no warning about the error.

So that let me get into the front end, and I can now link Places and Groups

Can you please open a development request for the problem with linking a CPT on the back end?
You might also open a dev request to check that CPT’s have categories before allowing listings to be saved.

Then you can close this ticket, because we have a work-around
Thanks a bunch for your quick response,
    Henry

I updated all plugins. The problem still exists on the back end.

I have an additional proble after the update: On the front end, ‘groups’ can be displayed in a list
    http://artpuffin.com/places/
but an individual listing fails to load:
    http://artpuffin.com/groups/united-states/idaho/sandpoint/sandpoint-pend-orielle-arts-council/
