Thanks a lot Guust, for ultimate clarification, I change change a CPT by downloading and reuploading a listing and this will keep it’s payment package even if the payment package is different for the new CPT?
This isn’t something I’m really worried about right now. I’m just curious for future reference, just in case…. 🙂
Searching Country is doing the same thing searching the region Florida was doing. Both it only works when using autocomplete and neither time does it show the pagination box thing at the top left.
See, all your searches have “autocomplete”. You’ll notice throughout what I’ve been saying that sometimes people don’t use auto complete. The results become inconsistent when not using autocomplete.
Attached you’ll see if I search “florida” without autocomplete I get no events. If I use autocomplete I get an event. Also notice in the third image that when I search “North Carolina” there is a little check box (pagination?) at the top left. North Carolina is working great now whether I use autocomplete or not (at least on this computer. Remember it doesn’t work at first but once it starts working it seems fine until I go to another computer, I repeated this 3 times on 3 different computers).
Right now I’m only seeing the region when I search North Carolina not Florida, even if I use autocomplete on florida.
Oh, no, I didn’t try it, I was expecting a registration form on the side but now I see it’s the first two fields at the top. I guess what confused me was how it reads in the admin “If checked non logged in users will be able to post listings from the frontend.” I thought this meant listings could be added without registering. Sorry, I totally misunderstood that… thanks for not giving up on me! lol 🙂 This is really nice, I’m excited for this feature big time! I really wish this was something I could implement now my site.
I’m about to launch my site officially on May 27th. This would make it soooo much easier for my initial launch. I am making a video on how to join. Right now the video I made is like “first you have to register, then log in, then navigate back to the add listing…”.
Is it at all possible to get this feature now on V1? lol. I know, that may be a crazy question. But, it would REALLY be a beautiful feature. It would make using V1 so much more bearable while waiting for V2… I hope it’s ok to ask…
In V1 the login process has been really challenging to make smooth. First I was trying to do it with the login widget. But, the widget was hiding CPT’s in the footer. We fixed that with CSS. But, then it was still awkward to deal with Supreme and the “dashboard”. Then finally I realized that UsersWP offers some different options for registering, logging in, and even a dashbard/edit/delete listings.
I am about to remove the login widget and just use UsersWP for registering/logging in. So, I’m going to have to re-create the video I made for adding listings. If you guys know a way to integrate this newer login process now that would be sooo helpful AWESOME. Then I can remake the video with just one step instead of multiple. Really, then people wont need a video. And I think that would really make it easy for new subscribers.
The only other thing I can imagine having on this page, this no results page that is, would be a text field where I can enter a suggestion like “No listings in your area? Add yours now or become an affiliate and add someone else’s to get commission when they join!” And of course be able to link to the ad listing page.
Or even better a search bar and then:
show all results for that custom post type (or better category) that was searched with no results.
It’s always a good idea to show at least something and give them a chance to do something right then and there then give them nothing and force them to have to go back where they started…
Thanks for helping me better understand the features. The problem is:
“when there are events in Charlotte it should never appear as if there are no events in Charlotte.”
“also, if I search north carolina nothing comes up yet there’s all kinds of events in north carolina. same happens when searching other states.”
“Autocomplete is fine. However, not using autocomplete should work also and that appears to be the biggest issue.”When I said “Not using autocomplete seems to work for cities just not states.” that seemed to be the case some of the time but I just tried it again by searching Shelby in the near field for skilled vegans and nothing came up.
The near field seems to work awesome when using a zip code or street with city. So I just changed the “near” to “near zip or street/city” instead.
I would also add “to just search a city or state start typing and use autocomplete”. But that seems like too much to say really…
Thanks for your help guys!
Wow, I just realized that the UserWP interface could have prevented all this. I really like how going to “profile” I can see all “my listings” and edit them from there. Now I need to figure out if I want to keep both options or ditch the login widget/dashboard option… I’m leaning toward the former.
Stiofan, I’m afraid to submit for review the wrong information as it may delay things. And, I would like to submit for review right away. Based on your knowledge of the plugin, how it connects to facebook, etc…, what do you consider the very least of permissions are needed to ensure that approval will happen and the plugin will work when approved (based on what it needs to work which “items do we include for submission”)? In reference to this post:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/social-importer-for-fb-fb-api-access-issue/#post-429043This reply has been marked as private. Thanks a bunch Stiofan, sounds like you guys have your hands full! I really appreciate your patience and communication!
Thanks Alex, like Dirk shared, we’re working it out in the other thread! 🙂
It was just confusing because i didn’t start a post. So, this is a little awkward and may need to hidden, I’m not sure if it does need to be because I wasn’t really using it in a real world application, it definitely was confusing enough though to make me apprehensive about having it. I want to limit confusion as much as possible for the end user. It’s being addressed well in the other post though…
Ahhh, I forgot there was two different ones, thanks so much, it feels like it’s working better now! That was weird how it was working last time. I sort of wondered a few times if those two (the field and the slider) are based off of separate settings. I’m so much happier now! 🙂
Thanks a lot!!!
Actually, I don’t think this is what I’m after. I want users to register. I thought GDV2 would allow registration to happen while adding a listing.
This is what it says:
Place Settings & Add Listing Page Improvements
Adding new listings and register simultaneously is a new option. In V1 registration was mandatory to even see the add listing form.on this page: https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-first-beta-release/
Thanks, I totally didn’t think about it potentially being under “advanced”. I guess it didn’t seem like an “advanced” setting, lol. I might “show advanced settings all the time” until I get used to GDV2. However, it’s not recommended so really not sure yet if I will…
