One of the neat features of GDV2 I am excited about is to to be able to register/login on the same page of add listing. I noticed this mentioned as a new feature. I can’t figure out how to implement it though.

I’ve added UWP register and Login to the sidebar. But I don’t want to see it on every page. I only want to see it on the side bar of the add listing right now.

Is there a way to qualify which pages the UWP widgets appear? The other widgets are cool because they let you select which pages to appear on.

I didn’t notice any shortcode way to do this. I guess shortcodes are only for the content area, right? Hope that’s not too silly of a question, lol…

GD > Settings > General tab [advanced settings] > Allow posting without logging in? > YES

    Thanks

Thanks, I totally didn’t think about it potentially being under “advanced”. I guess it didn’t seem like an “advanced” setting, lol. I might “show advanced settings all the time” until I get used to GDV2. However, it’s not recommended so really not sure yet if I will…

Actually, I don’t think this is what I’m after. I want users to register. I thought GDV2 would allow registration to happen while adding a listing.

    This is what it says:

Place Settings & Add Listing Page Improvements
Adding new listings and register simultaneously is a new option. In V1 registration was mandatory to even see the add listing form.

Did you try it? It will create a new user.

Oh, no, I didn’t try it, I was expecting a registration form on the side but now I see it’s the first two fields at the top. I guess what confused me was how it reads in the admin “If checked non logged in users will be able to post listings from the frontend.” I thought this meant listings could be added without registering. Sorry, I totally misunderstood that… thanks for not giving up on me! lol 🙂 This is really nice, I’m excited for this feature big time! I really wish this was something I could implement now my site.

I’m about to launch my site officially on May 27th. This would make it soooo much easier for my initial launch. I am making a video on how to join. Right now the video I made is like “first you have to register, then log in, then navigate back to the add listing…”.

Is it at all possible to get this feature now on V1? lol. I know, that may be a crazy question. But, it would REALLY be a beautiful feature. It would make using V1 so much more bearable while waiting for V2… I hope it’s ok to ask…

In V1 the login process has been really challenging to make smooth. First I was trying to do it with the login widget. But, the widget was hiding CPT’s in the footer. We fixed that with CSS. But, then it was still awkward to deal with Supreme and the “dashboard”. Then finally I realized that UsersWP offers some different options for registering, logging in, and even a dashbard/edit/delete listings.

I am about to remove the login widget and just use UsersWP for registering/logging in. So, I’m going to have to re-create the video I made for adding listings. If you guys know a way to integrate this newer login process now that would be sooo helpful AWESOME. Then I can remake the video with just one step instead of multiple. Really, then people wont need a video. And I think that would really make it easy for new subscribers.

If they could add listings without registering, they never can edit them or pay for them …

I suggest, you use this setting for now: UsersWP > Settings > Register > Registration Action > Auto approve + Auto Login

Thanks Guust, yeah, that’s why I was confused. I was looking for something to say “If checked visitors will be able to post listings and register at the same time”.

I had it on auto approve. Thanks for your suggestion, I think auto login with that should help. Along with redirecting them to add listing page. Thanks again!
