Sorry about that. It’s okay now. Thank you.
The avatar settings in WordPress does not help. The image that is being shown in the unclaimed listings in the supreme theme is from the theme – not wordpress.
@paolo, as I said, it works for a claimed listing. If a listing is created, then claimed(or claiming is disabled for a particular type), then the admin avatar appears. Otherwise, if the listing is not claimed, another image is shown. You can see it here: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/places/united-states/california/san-francisco/attractions/alcatraz-island/
How do I change that image? Thank you.
Thank you.
Hello I am using userswp. But the listing avatar only changes if the listing is claimed.
Nevermind. I just created test pages, then changed the Geodirectory Permalinks, then deleted the test pages I created. Now it’s reset and working as it should.
Thank you.

Thank you @abel-campos-romero I have tried a similar snippet, but it didn’t work. That’s why I’m hoping that they can help me further.

Here is my issue: Can a user not set a default location that will remain even if they use the search(or near me) function?
You have stated: The “Near me” is just for search and if u tick it then it is persistent, it does not mean the location has changed…
However, this is what is observed, both on my site and on the demo site. Once a user uses the “Near Me” their location is reset:
1) I go my site site and select the page of my location. I am then redirected to the location page for my selection.
2) Now, while on the location selected page, I choose the “Near Me” option so that my search gives me location based results so I can decided how far I want to travel. I search for pancakes. Given the results I am now able to decide on my pancake options near-by.
3) So far so good. But then I decide I would like to see some hiking trails. I could just use the search option again for hikes nearby. But what happens if someone clicks on the home button to start their search again? The location that they set in step 1 is gone. The hikes that they are shown on the homepage widget are for hikes throughout the state. So to find hikes in their area, they need to set their location again. This is an inconvenience. That’s why I think that the location set should be their default unless they clear their cache or change their location. This is what I am asking about. Is this possible?
While some people may just use the search option directly from their search results in step 2, some will not. Especially on mobile, where the search form is triggered by a button.
For the example you’ve given:
For example, a person planning a trip to New York sets the locations as NY, maybe they then want to search for coffee shops near them but they are in Rome, how would that work? The person would likely change their location back to Rome after research New York to view coffee shops near them. I feel like the “Near Me” search should really be able to work within a selected location – not independently. Some places have many listings and the user would use the “near me” option to decide how far they want to travel. Like in the above sample that you posed…a user could search New York coffee shops…and they may be given thousands of options. To narrow it down, they would use the “near me” search, but subsequent searches should still be relevant to New York listings, not site-wide listings. The entire issue I’m seeing is the need to set and reset one’s location when doing more that one search if they utilize the near me search option.
I’m not sure how much different ways I can explain this. Maybe it’s not a problem at all. I’m just saying that in seeing how other directory sites are, once the location is set, it’s set, unless it’s changed by the user.
Perfect! Thank you Stiofan.
I have separate post types. I am trying to remove the business owner/associate option from those specific post types. I have not been successful in doing this, yet the original post seems to state that it is possible.
Thank you. This has not been resolved.
It is already turned off.
I think we are not understanding one another. I understand the difference between the location and the near me option. But I don’t understand why they can’t be used fluidly. Why just one or the other? It seems wonky to me. I think many users will set their location, then try to search within their location. Their location page shows a limited amount of listings and I think many will get an idea and search for something instead of going to the “View All” and going through all the listings of a certain type of listing.
The point simply being that once a location is set the users home should always default to that set location. How a user performs a search (near me or otherwise) should not remove the location that the user has set. This is the problem I see. Maybe it’s a limitation but I’ve looked at other directory sites and the location doesn’t reset to a generic homepage, it goes back time and time again to the users location regardless of how many listings or searches are performed.
Is that not possible? Can a user not set a default location that will remain even if they use the search function? Or is the only options available either using a specific location or a search?
Thank you again for your time and patience. I don’t mean to go in circles, but I really think this can be improved. A successful website is highly dependent upon a users experience. The more intuitive and easy to navigate, the better the chances of a visitor returning to the site. If GD hopes to create a model comparative or better that other reputable directories, then this would be an area to consider.
