We have implemented this in the plugin it will be available in next release. If you want to apply the change on your site then let us know the FTP details in private reply and I will do this for you. We have already by default hidden the main tabs if it contains no data. Regarding subtabs like CPTs, we will hide them as well by default.

I have checked with the payment for normal and recurring items in the invoice via PayPal payment gateway and it worked properly. So regarding your issue, it might be possible that PayPal site has some issues. Also, you can check if the following action resolves this issue or not:
You may see this error if Encrypted Website Payments set to ON. Setting it to OFF will resolve the issue. This setting can be adjusted from within your PayPal account by navigating to Profile => Profile and Settings => Selling Preferences => (Website Payment Preferences/Website Preferences) and selecting OFF under Encrypted Website Payments

You need to pass the item ID from WPI and not the package ID from GD. Let me know if you have any queries.
