    Well Paolo,

Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve had so much fun trying to figure out how GD works. I finding a ton of whistles and bells and bunch of frustrating non-functionality. But thanks for being so darn helpful.

    Hi Paolo,

I am sorry to hear that there is no way to import 350 coupon codes. I really need a work around. We are using Smart Coupons to generate random coupon codes for premium members. Each coupon can only be used once. I need a way to upload those coupon codes into the payments addon so the users can apply them at the time of purchase. You guys should have really considered linking to woocommerce as a payment gateway and saved us all from sleepless nights.

    ****UPDATE*****

We elected to ditch the location switcher. We’re just too frustrated to continue messing with it. It simply does not work the way we expected it to.

    Thank you

    Hi Gust,

I love how you completely ignored the part about the location switcher NOT WORKING! We have had so much problem with that thing. HAS ANY BODY BEEN ABLE TO ACTUALLY USE IT ON A PRODUCTION SITE?

    RE: Slow server

We are running on a dedication server: quad core, 8M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 16GB ram. What more does wp geodirectoy require? We had to move from a shared server because this plugin was eating up all the resources.

With all due respect, WP Geodirectory has never behaved like a regular WordPress plugin. Instead it has behaved more like an ill mannered guest — coming in and taking over the house.

At the end of the day, visitors CAN NOT search for listings properly. I NEED THIS FIXED PLEASE.

    Hello again,

I have an issue related to this problem that we thought was resolved.

When a user enters a location, the immediate search result displays “We are searching for .. ” Then is immediately displays “Sorry nohting found”. But after 5 to 10 seconds the entered location appears.

However the search results always returns “No Records Found
Sorry, no record were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again.”

I notice that the URL will change to the location entered in the search but the location displayed the the widget does not change.

Geodirectory is not the homepage and this really should not matter. But I find it curious that https://afroanswer.com/businesses/ always default to the same city. Is that because it is the city with the largest number of listings? How do we change this?

The bottom line is that users are not able to effectively access the database tosearch for listings and change locations.

    Hello again ….

Wow! I originally posted this way back in March of 2015 and it only took eight months to get a rise out of Theme Fusion. LMAO! I meant every word. I have the email correspondences for their tech support to prove my case as well as the hosting specs that ensure that the issue was not a “server configuration” issue.

Now with that being said, I truly believe in sticking with the facts as I perceive them. Over the course of the past eight months, the developers over at Theme Fusion have implemented a myriad of revisions and upgrades to the their flagship product Avada. Is is it still very popular? Hell Yes! I have never and will never purchase this theme for a project as a first choice. But clients still buy it and request it. Is it still bloated? Hell YES! This is the fattest, slowest loading theme that I have ever worked with — naked straight out of the box. It still loads over 3,000 lines of head code BEFORE you even begin to customize it — RIDICULOUS!!!!! Are they moving in a positive direction? HELL YES! They have implemented theme variations that allow users to disable features and functions that are not need/required based on the intended purpose and use of the theme. Is it a good fit for GeoDirectory? NOPE! And it NEVER will be. There are too many script & plugin conflicts.

The Avada theme comes loaded with a ton of whistles and bells. It is sleek and aesthetically beautiful. But it lacks pure functionality. So in my opinion, what good is a beautiful website if no one can access and/or interact with it.

Finally, their tech support STILL SUCKS A@#$#%@^%^$&%^*%^#$% — No change there.

I signed it the first time because I simply stated my experience. Nothing has changed. If you want me to post the 42 email responses from their tech support staff then please just ask and I will.

    Hello Paul,

Sorry for the delayed response here. I definitely feel your frustration — been there still going through that. You’ll find a couple of my rants somewhere around here as well. However, in all fairness to the development team, once they understand the scope of the issue they will attempt to come up with a solution. I can personally attest to that.

Now regarding your current issue …

I am not sure exactly what you are attempting to accomplish. However, on the project that I am working on with s2Member I was able to create member access limitations by doing the following.

    1. Using s2Member’s URI restriction feature
Create the “Premium Package” and then restrict the uri to the specific member access level.

    2. Manually approve all listings. When a member has exceeded their usage of the “promo package”, I send them an email suggesting that they upgrade to the next access level.

If you’d like to “commiseration” and explore various solutions please feel free to do so at your leisure.

Hello again Guust! Well at least I know that I was on the right path as I thought the very same thing too with regards to missing pages. So the first thing I did was run the GD pages check utility.

    All Green
Add Listing page exists with proper setting.
Listing Preview page exists with proper setting.
Listing Success page exists with proper setting.
Location page exists with proper setting.

Verified the settings were set per your instruction — Check

So I’m giving up and let you take over.

    Hello Guust,

I’ve tried a number of combinations without any real success. As a matter of fact, there are two issues that I believe are tied together: 1. The first being the redirect to the homepage; 2. The inability to change locations.

After a several months working with this product, I find that the frustration comes from failed functionality. The expectation has always been that a visitor would arrive at the site and be greeted by listings based upon their current locations by default. Then if they would like to broaden their search, they would simply change locations. We have yet to accomplish this.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what would you give me for a video? Here is a link to a typical user’s experience. http://screencast.com/t/azVDvXUnjo

And this is just the desktop experience — its worse on a mobile device.
