Thank you, Naveen, for the update.

I hadn’t looked at the debug log recently, but checked it just now and did not find any instances of an error message starting with “Undefined offset: 5” going all the way back to March 16th.

So, it looks like you fixed it!

Stay healthy (the GD world needs you!)

    Thank you, Alex.

That’s still the “problem” as I see it.

A visitor won’t know (nor will care) what “Near” vs. “In” means (without significant explanation, at least, which, as I mentioned, I am trying to avoid).

For me (the average mope…) if I start typing something in and suggestions appear, I am going to click on the match I was going for.

So, if I do that in this case, though the field started out saying “Near”, the autocomplete suggestions are “In” and when selected render our radius option unusable.

When you say, “You can now disable the recommendations for that field, which makes it possible to insure that the user enters a city or some other location there.”, are you referring to GD > Advanced Search > Autocompleter Settings?

We’ll try the CSS options you provided and see if we can nail it.

    Hoping for success!

    Thank you, as always, Alex!

It looks as if that code worked. Thank you!

Now my life would be complete (okay, I apparently don’t have very lofty goals…) if the search could be forced to return “Near:” results and not “In:” results.

(I already have a “radius” feature on our homepage where if someone ends up on the Near: option they can specify 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 miles)

    So, close…!

If we could force it to display “Near: ” results my life would be golden!

    Thank you, Kiran.

    Thank you, Kiran.

Though I have been working on our site for quite some time, I apologize in advance for not being an expert.

So, where would that PHP code you created be inserted?

As for your answer regarding, “Is there a way to force it to always display “Near” results?”

“Try to submit search without selecting autocomplete result.”

I can do that for myself, but to have to somehow explain to each and every visitor “Don’t Click On The Links!” is not appealing, at all (not to mention how many people would read the admonition and how many fewer people would follow that advice?)

It would be so much nicer in the backend to have settings to “Display In: results? Yes/No” “Display Near: results Yes/No”

With regard to “Select United States from the location autocomplete results” is that a backend setting or are you once again suggesting we somehow explain to visitors to ignore the dropdowns for countries they aren’t interested in?

    Thank you, Kiran.

    Thank you, Alex.

Just that one “Search from the first characters” tweak would be a huge improvement!

BTW, is there a way to force it to always display “Near” results in the dropdown of city/state vs. “In”?

Also, in “Near” searches, is there a way to force GD to only display listings in the USA?

Those things would get us far closer to where we want to be.

    Thank you, again, Alex,

    Duane

    Hello, Kor.

    Thank you for the reply.

I am using Ayecode Connect to keep the plugins automatically updated.

I looked at all of the GeoDirectory plugins and none of them show as needing to be updated.

I checked the version of the plugin I believe this is referring to (the only one with the word “location” appearing in it, “GeoDirectory Location Manager”) and it is at the latest rev level (2.0.0.24))

If you need anything else from me, please let me know.

Thank you, Kor. Have a great weekend.

    Duane

P.S. I shared logins and FTP info with Alex yesterday in case you need it, as well.

Never being happy to leave well enough alone, I decided to violate the GD cardinal rule against FTPing images to the site.

I restored the backup I had made prior to the latest successful addition of 10 new images to the image library followed by the importing of the CSV listings datafile.

I verified the places and images I had previously added to the library and the listings which had been imported were gone.

Using Filezilla I FTP’d the 10 image files to the /wp-content/uploads/2020/01 folder and followed with the import of the CSV file.

    Voila!

The listings, the images and the featured images all showed up perfectly.

Hope this helps someone else with similar featured images problems.

    Woo-Hoo!

    We have a winner!

By uploading the images, first, and uploading the import file, second, the featured images appeared INSTANTLY!

    Wow!

If this was back in my drinking days (even considering it is only 10:25AM!) I would have a giant honkin’ Dewar’s on the rocks (or 2 or 3…)!!!

So, as far as I am concerned, feel free to mark this ticket closed as this “upload images, first, upload CSV, second” method works just fine for me.

Thank you, and have a great weekend, Alex.

(If you want a guinea pig for import-related stuff, keep me in mind. I’d be happy to help.)

Thank you for the reply, Alex.

Unfortunately, I tried using remote images to no avail, as well.

In fact, I tried it once again in the last hour or so.

But, thinking about it, what I did was changed the URL of the first test image to this:

    https://www.bestretirementcommunitiesusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/00-1-A-A-A-Assisted-Living-Wellington-1337-Pinet.jpg

    From this:

    00-1-A-A-A-Assisted-Living-Wellington-1337-Pinet.jpg

And, that image was not uploaded, first, but uploaded after the CSV import had taken place.

I will try the reverse right now (uploading the images to the what will be the remote URL in the import CSV, first, and then running the import file, second).

    I’ll keep you posted.

    Thank you,

    Duane

    Hello, again, Kor:

While doing some additional experiments I did happen upon this on the status page:

“Add listing page: Page does not contain the shortcode.”

I don’t know if this is in any way related to the featured image problem (I totally doubt it is since listings are being created and not by using the add listing page).

But, if nothing else, it probably alerts me to another potential problem I might have down the road.

BTW, I have multiple backups of this non-production site (it’s live, but it isn’t as if any of the data matters and we don’t have any paying customers as yet.)

    Thank you, Kor.

    Seems to be all good!

As I surmised initially, it was most likely due to my attempts to display (as closely as possible) the cumulative rating and number of reviews scraped from Google Maps.

Once I wiped out everything and started fresh (and eliminated the decimal point and digit to the right thereof) of the “comment” I was uploading the problems went away.

    Thank you, Alex and Kor.
