Address Required

    A lot of the businesses in the area are run from home. Is there a way to give the option to have the address field but not make it required? I looked all over but can’t find an option to make it from being required.

    Hi Rhonda,

    Thanks for your post. Address is a mandatory for a listing. If you don’t need an address for your listings, you can enable the “Disable physical location?” option as explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/general/#post-type

    So there is no way to keep the fields just not make them required? We just live in the country and a lot of businesses travel to the client vs. having people come to there come.

    Thanks for your reply. As mentioned earlier, an address is mandatory for a listing. You can possibly try creating a new CPT that doesn’t require an address using the “Disable physical location?” option https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/general/#post-type and let your users choose between these two CPT.

    Rhonda you can do what I do in that I hide the actual address with CSS so when the listing is displayed it only shows the name of the city and country.

    Thanks, Just Mark, but then the businesses that want the actual address showing as they are a brick and mortar business. It would be great to have a feature where the address isn’t required and the business/service could choose not to add an address. Being a rural area, with a lot of farms that produce consumer goods want people to know about them but don’t necessarily want them showing up at there home. Same with house cleaners, etc… Just would be great to be able to have our business and service guide be able to fit both kinds of businesses. Like I’m a huge business ran from home, and I don’t want people actually showing up here! So I can’t even be in my own directory.

    Hiding an address for some listings is possible with the right tools like an advanced themer and some additional custom fields, or custom code.
