    Hi.

It seems that a programming is missing so that the apostrophe in French is taken into account in the search engine. When I try to search for an organization called Anchor (in french l’ancre) the search result does not pull it out. Is it possible that it does’nt work well?

you can see it there : https://rocld.info/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=l%27ancre&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=

The organization I want to see is : https://rocld.info/places/canada/quebec/montreal-1/secondaire/lancre-des-jeunes/

Maybe the character set is different from the english one.
For additional info on the table of characters, if needed : https://www.ascii-codes.com/cp863.html

    Hello,

We can look into this a bit further if you could share WP Admin and FTP access to the site to do some debugging.

There seems to be a problem with the widgets on the Listing and Search pages.

Please check to make sure you are using the GD > GMap Listing page widget on those pages.

Hi Alex, I would like you to take a look, could I put my Acess Admin here (in support) or in your respond email. What is the best way to do it?

Yes, there is a button near the submit button that says “Set as private reply”. You can use that to hide the details from the public so that only our team here can read them and take a look at the site.

    Thanks

    Thanks for posting your information.

    The developers have been alerted.

I was able to find the listing by searching ‘des jeunes’.

It seems like the apostrophe is the same char on my keyboard. It shows as this in the URL:

    &s=l%27ancre

The developers will let us know why that string doesn’t show any results.

    Hi,

I already know that I could find it with “des jeunes” the problem is that they are many “des jeunes” in our listing. My client is not satisfied with that option. I could understand them because I get the same problem for example with “d’entraide” or “J’apprends” .. etc. Unfornatuly we have many of that in our french words. It would be nice to find a way to do it right.

Maybe that could help : https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/quotes.html

    Hello David,

We have replaced special apostrophe to normal apostrophe in searching results, because recently we found issue on some devices (apple) with special apostrophe.
So searching special or normal apostrophe will only shows results which have normal used in title.

    See patch here https://github.com/GeoDirectory/geodirectory/commit/b4682953a11f2a09bb5b64a0d672e8242b101497

This fix was implemented for apple ios devices, see: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/89706

This is not an ideal solution, we may have to reverse this change and go back to the drawing board.

I’ll talk this over with Kiran in the morning.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hello,

We have reversed our previous changes, so now you can search with both special apostrophe or normal apostrophe.
It will be in next release. You can update patch from here https://github.com/GeoDirectory/geodirectory/pull/472/commits/e08f14209a31695504faf3e48902ab0ed208318a

It would be better for us to apply it now if it’s possible instead of later. You already have credentials, see above previous message. They still working, I did’nt change it.

I just made a backup, so you can do it. Thnak you very much for your help.

    I wishing you all a great week-end.
