I am working on a directory where all listings are based in the U.K.

However I am having some issues with certain results showing based on searching for certain locations.

For example, I have a listing that is based in Oxford. Oxford is mentioned in the full UK address and the map even pinpoints to it’s exact UK location.

If I search for oxford, no results show up. If I search for oxford uk then the results do show up.

I have the Multilocations addon installed so there is a suggestion feature that shows the correct oxford when you type oxford, but with a second or so delay, and users often not relying on suggestion features, I wanted to know if there is a way to set the search so it assumes that we only want to search within a certain country?

The directory knows I have a listing with Oxford in it, and it knows that this listing is based in the UK so I don’t know why it doesn’t show results by just using oxford unless maybe it thinks I want to search for a different oxford? When search results show nothing it does show a no results found map in the side bar with somewhere in the USA being shown. Maybe that’s related.

I have set the ‘Selected Countries’ in multilocations to United Kingdom (& Ireland to be safe) but this doesn’t seem to affect search results.

If there is no way around this then I will have to settle for users relying on the suggestion feature, but it would be really handy if users who assume all of our listings are in the U.K can just type in a U.K location such as Oxford, and it know to show results from the Oxford in the UK.

    Any help greatly appreciated,

    Peter

Wow, that has just made it a million times better thank you!

I have seen that setting so many times but must have misunderstood what it was for. That’s fantastic, thank you so much!
