    Hello,

Im trying to bulk add categories however I keep getting the same erro message when uploading my csv file.

“52 / 52 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type/invalid characters used in data.”

    I have attached the file.

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,
    Ewan

    Hi Ewan,

Thanks for your post. Your csv contents are incorrect. Please review this section of the documentation https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/import-export/#recommended and refer to the attached sample.

    Hi Kor,

Thanks for your reply. Ok no problem.

This is pretty specific in the way it’s been formated (column titles). Just to confirm the import/export section under settings.. is this just for a csv that’s been exported from another GeoDirectory installation?

I only ask as I have also been having problems with trying to import listings from Gravity Forms to GeoDirectory Listings section (please see the attatched file). I’m assuming this wont work unless I have specific columns setup again?

    Kind regards,
    Ewan

    Hi Ewan,

That’s correct, it has to be in GD import format as explained in the documentation that I’ve shared earlier.

    Hi Kor,

Right ok. Is there a simpler way to just add a list of brand new categories?

Otherwise I have to go through and add this information (which I dont know).

    cat_id cat_name
    cat_slug
    cat_posttype
    cat_parent
    cat_schema
    cat_font_icon
    cat_color
    cat_description
    cat_top_description
    cat_image
    cat_icon

    thanks
    Ewan

    Hi Ewan,

As explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/import-export/#recommended , you can export the sample CSV files for your reference.

    Hi Kor,

This seems a bit convoluted just to add some new categories. I think at this stage it seems a bit awkward trying to migrate from another directory plugin to GD.

    Thanks for you help anyway!

You can add categories through the WP Backend through Places – > Categories.

Try adding one, there, then export that category. You only need to fill in the same required fields as you do when you add one through the web UI. The same is true for listings.

GD includes this functionality in core in the free version.
