Can Placeholder Value be used to merge text string content into template files?

    Can something like “Placeholder Value” be used to create fields with variable content within boilerplate text in template files (in my case within the Default Template) much as one would with a mailmerge so the content changes with the listing? If so what are the required enclosing perameters/how is it done?

    If they cannot is there another suggested method for doing this?
