    Hi guys,

For some reason I’m not able to search via postcode.

Also, the site isn’t able to pick up on the user’s location.

Wondering if you could shed any light on what’s wrong?

    Thanks!

    Rach

    hi,

That is because AU zip codes are not unique worldwide. I just tested with 3182 and it correspond to a small town in USA.

I added Australia to GeoDirectory >> General >> Search >> Add location specific text to (Near) search for Google

    and now it works.

    Thanks

For GeoLocation you will need a SSL certificate and your website running under https://

    Thanks

    More info at
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#near:

    Be aware of some issues:
If you enter a ZIP or a postcode, be aware that that postcode might be used by different countries in the world and might return results around the center of a city in a different country.

    Thanks.

Oh dear, everything was going so well and the instructions were easy to follow – then when I got to “You should now go into any WordPress installations and change the URLs to https”, I went to WordPress, changed the URL then my site disappeared and I got a 404 error – now the site looks to be hijacked :S.

I bought the SSL from Namecheap which seems legit.. I don’t know what’s happened!

Are you able to help me out at all?

    Thanks!! Eeek!

PS the postcode fix was perfect, thank you Paolo! Now I just have to get my site back! Lol

Phew, I managed to change it back to http via BlueHost and my site came back, but I guess that means I can’t have GeoLocation.. Do you have any ideas on what I could have done wrong? I’ll try again once I hear from you!

    Thanks so much!

    Rach

    Hi,

if I go now to the https version of your website I get this error: Your connection is not secure

Which means the SSL certificate is not installed properly. You’ll have to ask for assistance to your hosting provider for that.

We can’t assist directly as part of support.

    Thanks
