    Ok, I imported 272 categories, but for some reason, not all of them were assigned to the proper parent category. When I go in to assign the parent category, it won’t let me save it because I have not selected a category icon. I only want icons for the parent categories, not the sub categories. How can I stop it from requiring a Category Icon so I can make the proper edits?

    Also, when I uploaded the categories, I got this message:

    Total 272 item(s) found.
    268 / 272 item(s) added.
    4 / 272 item(s) ignored due to already exists.

    However, I deleted all categories before uploading.

    Hi,

    category icons are mandatory, there is no way to avoid that validation from the backend. Only via CSV you can upload categories without icons.

    The -1 means there is a category or tag with the same slug somewhere else in your database.

    The only way to avoid that is to find the duplicates and delete them.

    This is insane! Why are category icons required??? If I have restaurants with an icon, and sub categories list dozens of different kinds of categories, then I don’t want all those different types to have icons. I just want the restaurant to have an icon.

    Hi,

    Maps don’t work without map icons, if you don’t want a different icon for each sub category you must add the same icon of the parent category to all sub categories too.

    Have a simple check box that says “Apply this icon to all sub-categories of this parent”. That way, I am not wasting hours and hours to upload icons for 272 categories.

    Our plugin works fine for +10k websites, you just need to install it on a server that has the minimum requirements.

    Your current server obviously does not…

    It is one of your plugins. I deactivated the locations manager, and the speed dropped down to the 6 second range.
