Cause of regions & cities appearing under all country permalinks

    I’ve just noticed today that regions / cities on my sites can be reached with permalinks containing any country name slug.

    e.g.

    Calgary, Alberta, Canada can be reached at:

    /canada/alberta/calgary

    and

    /united-states/alberta/calgary

    Have I missed something obvious here?

    I get that, but it doesn’t make sense that you can arrive at a location page with a permalink that contains the country slug of a completely different country.

    A permalink of /united-kingdom/new-york/new-york is just nonsense?

    At a basic level it doesn’t make sense, but there is also a risk of duplicate content if the same page can be reached by any number of permalinks.

    Why is it doing this?

    Can you show a page where that permalink is a link?

    Those pages won’t be linked from the sitemap.
