Hi, Im using GD configured within one country India, and multiple regions and cities within that.

    (1) I have put the “Change Location” in the primary menu and when i change it one location CIty A, and then go to a CPT archive page, or some other page, OFTEN (not always) the CITY A in the menu changes back to “Change location”
    2) similarly, after setting the City A, sometimes the listing shown are filtered for City A, and sometimes they are not
    3) can the city selection in menu be done based on the users lcoation so they only need to seelct it manually if their browser location sensing is turned off?

Shouldnt the location be fixed/sticky, and all arcghives be filtered for that location, UNLESS the user changes the location? Else it is very tedious if on each page they have to go set the location again.

thanks very much- appreciate the prompt responses from you folks on all my queries.

It can be ‘sitcky’ but there are places to turn it off, too.

Take a look at the settings on the location tab

GD – Settings – Locations – Show advanced

Make sure you haven’t ticked the options for archive and detial page URLs.

The site look right to me. Please share the URL where you are finding the URL that seems to be unsticky and we will take a look.

Thanks for the reply. I shall share my credentials in the next pm so you can take a look. Current issues:
    1) The change location sometimes doesnt set the location (sometimes it does, other times doesnt). I have the “Change location” in the header menu (as i suppose most sites would have), but if i am on a non- GD page, and try to Change Location- then while options show in the dropdown, but the lcoation is not set.
    2) The advanced search addon is activated but the categories and other buttons/dropdowns are not showing on search page (
    3) though auto suggest is showing, however autosuggest also shows listings from other location, apart from the selected one
    4) If i set a location and then navigate to a non-GD page eg buddypress/ WP page then it reverts to “CHange Location” – this is very important for me to keep the lcoation selection sticky. I saw some other posts where you mentioned it is not possible, but this will be a very poor user experience in my case- so can i get customisation done to persist the session? will that work? —
    5) wont session expiry on visiting non-GD pages also cause other problems eg. with Google Analytics etc

I suppose there will be many sites which use GD along with WP/BP/Other pages, so as the issues in point 1 & 4 would cause a poor user experience, i am sure someone would have figured a way to fix this.

Shall appreciate it if you could please help out with the above .thanks

    Hello,

Apologies for missing your earlier reply.

    In answer to your questions:

    1. The Location Switcher is only retaining the location on GD Pages (meaning it is on a page with a location).
    2. To make other items appear on Search edit the search template. First, though, change the search slug. More info here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/addons/buddypress/#search
    3. Suggestions are based on relevance. The options on the Locations tab apply to the location search. GD – Settings – Locations . Review those settings and adjust as needed.
    4. Works for me (on groups page can select Pune).
    5. GDV2 does not use sessions. Instead it uses browser local storage.
    6. GD does not integrate with any Geo features of BP. Integration is to facilitate showing GD Listing and Favorites in the BP Profile.
