Customising Templates

    Hi Guys,

    Hope you’re all well.

    I just have a quick query regarding customising the templates.

    I have purchased Elementor which is working fine with new pages and posts etc. I’m really pleased with it!

    My question is, can I use Elementor to customise the GD pages, specifically the listing pages?

    I used FileZilla and duplicated the Geo D templates into my current child theme thinking that would solve the issue but it hasn’t.

    I also have CSS Hero which will allow me to customise certain things on your templates e.g. font etc it probably would allow me to customise it if I added code but I am still learning 🙂 I am able to build a template of how I would like the advert with Elementor but obviously it them won’t be linked to my GD Maps.

    Hi Emma, GD pages are not like WP pages, they are template driven and cannot be customized with any page builder.

    Hi Guust,

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    I have added to the GD Pages template files to my child theme.

    Am I able to customise them using code in the editor?

    Hi Emma,

    which editor do you mean? If you mean the theme file editor, yes, but be careful because any error in the code made through the editor, will lock you out of the dashboard.

    It’s always better to work via FTP/SSH.

    Thanks Paolo. I meant the CSS Hero Editor. Should that work do you know?
    I’m just completing a CSS course on UDEMY so hopefully that will teach me a bit.

    Hi Paolo,

    I followed the instructions – https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/customizing-geodirectory-templates/

    I used FileZilla to do this.

    When I go into Appearance – Editor – I can see all GD templates listed down the side e.g. geode listing php.

    Is it safe to change the code within these templates now?
