    Good day

I crossed over from Geo Theme to the Geo Directory and I have been having so many problems with my site loading very slowly.

I also keep getting access denied error messages since I have crossed over and this is a very big problem.

I loaded the GD Boost plugin but it does not seem to really help.

I have been losing a lot of traffic, noticing my stats have gone down considerably since I have converted.

    Any advise?

    Regards
    Broski

I have made some changes but the site still seems pretty slow, what exact hosting package do you have? Can you link me to the page?

    Hi Broski,

Thanks for the info, you are on shared hosting, which is the slowest type of hosting and only really good for static serving content sites not web application type sites like GD.
At the very least you should be on a VPS (virtual private server) but a dedicated server would be the best option.

A basic rule is if the hosting package talks about how many email addresses and databases you can have then its shared hosting and not what you are looking for. You want to know what processor and what RAM it’s using.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hi Broski,

Let me try and answer each point:

    1. You need to edit the package description, it only auto builds the first time then u edit it as u prefer.

    2. You have a big warning message telling you the Invoicing plugin is required, why have you not installed it?

    3. You can make your paid listings “Featured” which will affect the position in most cases.

    4. I have set it to use slightly larger images. This is a setting under GD>design>listings

    5. I am going to try some new caching, expect this to change.

    6. You can show the owners actual Google Analytic stats if you want. We don’t offer a basic hit counter.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    1. Silly me, sorry… Thank you…

    2. Thank you, yes I wanted to ask you about the invoicing warning that was popping up as I had not had that on my site before and wondered if I should install it or remove what is linked to it. I just installed it.The warning is gone and I am going to go through it to understand everything.

    3. I went and made the Primary Plus listings featured but it does not seem to work. When I search Panel beaters for instance the free listings still pop up first instead of my paying customer Redline, as well as when I search tyres, Tyrehouse does not show first only the free listings. Is there nothing else I can do to make sure that the paid listings feature first when a category is searched.

4 : thank you, The icons seem to be back in place an din the correct size, looks great!

    5: thanx

6: Okay, I will see what I can find as I still have to manually go and create stats for clients with Google Analytics.

    2. See here: https://wpinvoicing.com/docs/category/getting-started/

    3. It wont make current listings featured if u change it, u would need to run a simple SQL statement to do that, even then it might not mean they are at the very top but it does help with search, it willmake them on top in most category listing pages.

    6. As long as u have GA on your site you just need to set up the GD GA settings and it will show the stats from there to the owners, you can also set this as a paid feature only.

    Hi, Thank you,

    3. I am not good with coding, where does one run the SQL Statement and what should I put in?

    6. Thank you, I did the link for GD GA.

    Kind regards

    Broski
