    Hi There…

Our website will have a database of literally hundreds (poss thousands) of entries to add, all of which are in an excel document.

I know GEODIRECTORY supports population of entries through an excel.csv but we want to test using one of your supported examples so we can marry up the fields / columns etc.

We’re stumbling around the support forum trying to find the example .csv you supply but cannot find it… could you please send one or the link to please.

Plus any info or links on how to make the process go smoothly would be great also.

    many thanks
    Tom

    Hi Thomas,

I’ve just exported my GD data to a .csv file and attached it in this reply. Could you please check on it and see if it’s what you’re looking for? Check out this section of the documentation for more info about importing/exporting in GD https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/ . I hope it helps.

    Thanks!

Best practice is to set up your custom fields, price packages, categories etc.
Then add a couple of listings from the frontend.
Then go to GD > Export and Import, and export your listings.
You will have the perfect CSV file, ready with all custom fields and ordered exactly correctly.

    Hi Guys,
    Ok, thanks for the advise…

BUT… we’re having trouble importing DB’s using the import feature: GD IMPORT & EXPORT CSV

After many attempts adapting the clients data and failing we even tried exporting a current DB and simply re-importing the identical DB which resulted in errors (see attached grab).

The screen grab attached is the result an an identical DB being exported and then imported. The only difference being it’s file name.

    Please advise?

    Thank you

The file is semi-colon separated instead of comma separated.

    Hello,

Sorry to sound ‘thick’ but we cannot see any semi-colons in this file name (below)?

    gd_pet_shops_2405160701.csv

    Please advise what you mean?

    Thank you

    Mmmm, you’re right.
I had re-saved it and successfully uploaded it to your site, that is why I thought that was the problem.
I had no problem uploading the file at all, all 8 listings were imported but I deleted them again.

    Hello,

OK, We also managed a successful import of the same file.

So we went back to our original task of attempting to upload a revised file, which errors.

Is it imperative that the Lat, Long Co-ords are present on the DB?

    Please see attached modified file.

    Thank you

That one will not work, you are missing city, lat and lng

    See https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/#mandatory

That’s what we were afraid of. The client has over 3,000 entries to load.

Can you think of anyway the lat’ long could be achieved via the postcode?

    Thank you

    Hello,

Please see the attached. It’s an exact duplicate of the exported DB apart from the final entry which has been added for testing we get the following error.

    Total 9 item(s) found.

    7 / 9 item(s) updated.

    1 / 9 item(s) added.

1 / 9 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type.

    Please advise?

    Thank you

There is no listing with ID 12000 to update is there?

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/#import
Do NOT add a post_id when importing new listings; WP needs to create its own post_id to avoid database conflicts.
