Hi! We’re on a multisite network and we were looking for the best way to have the listings from one of the Directory categories show up on one of the other websites on our network.
For example, the Directory is on its own website in our network. We also have a website on the network dedicated to pickleball.
Ideally, we would like to have some of the pickleball listings from the Directory show up on the pickleball site.
I know we’ve been able to do something similar with our Calendar of Events, but we’re wondering if the Directory has that ability right now, or if that’s possible with customization.
Thank you!
January 16, 2020 at 7:20 am #525888GeoDirectory does not have a built in function for this at this time, though it is something we have discussed in the past.
I can take up your idea as a suggestion.
Could you provide some additional information?
For your case, would you want the details page and all the GD templates on the other site?
If so, perhaps simply exporting and importing would work for you.
What if it were just a list of places, but, clicking would take you to the site where the listings exist?
Any other information you can share?
January 17, 2020 at 5:25 pm #526176Thanks Alex! That would be great if the GD system had that capability.
I don’t know your system well enough yet to say exactly what we’d need.
However, I can say that we wouldn’t just want to do an import/export since we’d want any changes to the “main Directory” to auto-populate on the “extended Directory.”
Having the Directory on all the sports sites, as well as the main site would be fine with us. We’d just want a widget or short code that could call in the desired custom post type, category, sub-categories, and select fields.
So, I guess what we’re talking about is being able to call specific info from the main Directory and have it show on the other websites in our network.
We have a partner in San Diego we work with and I would love to do the same for their website. Meaning, take a portion of our info – all the resources we have in the San Diego area and have them show on their site.
Please let me know if that’s enough info to start, or if there’s something else I could share that would be helpful.
Thanks again!

I don’t think it would be possible to display full archive or listings pages on another site without installing GeoDirectory on the site, too, and then basically publishing the listings on the remote site.
Best practices for SEO usually have a small reference as standard with a link pointing back to the main site.
Have you seen our Embed widget? It’s an addon and shows what might be called a tiny-archive-item, basically the listing title and rating, on a remote site.

January 17, 2020 at 11:54 pm #526257We’d be fine installing the Directory on each site. We’d still want to figure out a way to only need to make changes on the main site, and not on the “extended sites” too.
I guess worse case scenario, if we can’t have it automatically populate elsewhere, we could do weekly exports to the “extended sites.”

I saw the “Embeddable Ratings Badge” addon, but thought it was just for ratings.
Can we use it as a widget with listing titles, but NOT include any ratings?
I suppose we can use ratings if needed, but we weren’t planning to use those in the beginning.
Thanks again for your help!
