Featured Listings

    Hi there.

    I have been reading through the forums here and am looking to clarify. We plan to offer “featured places” as an upsell for an annual fee.

    On the homepage (still being developed), we added a section and selected “featured”. There are non featured listings showing up and upon reading I understand that if there are not enough featured listings that than non-featured will be shown.

    Our display will show two featured businesses on the homepage but what happens if we have 30 listings that are featured – is it random on how they show up in these two slots? Will non-featured businesses still show up at that point?

    Looking for clarification to ensure that by charging an annual fee that my customers are getting value.

    Currently that widget only “sort by” featured, meaning it will show featured 1st and regular listings after.

    This means that if you have more than 2 featured per category, you’ll never see regualr listings there.

    However it is not possible to sort by featured and randomize too. So the last 2 featured entered will always be displayed

    If you use the random sort, it will randomize all listings, featured and not.

    Currently there isn’t a widget to show only featured listings and randomize it, but it is in our wishlist but now I can’t anticipate any release date.

    Thank you . So what is the benefit to a customer of our website having a featured listing then? We can offer them additional images and some other small “upsell” but we assumed featured would work differently.

    And they appear on TOP (if you set the sort for it) in CPT pages, categories pages and search pages.

    Basically everywhere else…

    Any progress on being able to have a featured widget that also randomizes? Or possibly it could just scroll through all the features businesses?
