I tried editing the GD details page with elementor. It behaves very odd within elementor. It does not show the listing images and the navigation. WHenever you edit something it seems to take a really long time and this strange “apply” button shows up that is not usually present in elementor. I was saving multiple times and the changes were not posting. (yes …..I cleared the cache)
The issue started with post navigation not working and then the more I try to fix it the more screwed up the template got. There used to be a post level blue box that linked me to info on editing the template and that is gone now too.

March 2, 2020 at 3:08 am #533013Elementor Pro is required to create a theme builder layout for the details page template.
March 2, 2020 at 8:06 pm #533162I have elementor pro installed.
March 2, 2020 at 8:06 pm #533164But it seems to have issues flipping between the elementor editor and the wp-bakerry/wordpress one.
March 2, 2020 at 9:12 pm #533174I had a draft elementor template started for this and it seemed to override the GD Details template. I deleted it and the content showed up again.
However I am REALLY struggling to understand your product. I have watched videos, read KB and I just dont’ get how you get certain content to show on a places post.
In the tabs in settings, I have like 6 things I want to display and only see two.See attached image. But they don’t show on the tabs.
And the forward/backward navigation between places won’t display. But it shows on template. I used elementor to add it…but I can’t find a shortcode. This all began because I wanted to increase the text size for forward/back navigation.
Nor can I find a list of what the shortcodes are for displaying items on the GD Details template.
March 3, 2020 at 8:34 am #533243I can check your setup.
Add your WP Admin credentials in a private reply and I will check it out.
You say you want to add previous next links: when you add something to an Elementor layout use the Shortcode module, and inside that you should see a shortcode builder button

The details page is now setup correctly and working:

The GD Details is now setup as a theme builder layout, so, make sure you edit that one in the theme builder settings.
Did you have additional questions about how GD works?
March 3, 2020 at 11:16 pm #533391This reply has been marked as private.March 3, 2020 at 11:34 pm #5334001. I used Elementor to save it from the GD Details wp page and reload it in the layout.
2. A directory map can be built with the shortcode builder. Select GD Map, then click the blue button for advanced options. In map type select “Directory” and then adjust the options to add the post type and category selectors.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/design/maps/
3. Looks like a lot of empty categories. As you add them they will appear there.
You can have some control of the layout by altering the GD Categories shortcode to show a limited number of parent or child categories.
4. This looks like a CSS issue. We will take a look and get back to you with a fix.
5. That is the Place Custom Post Type Archive, and the layout is determined by the GD Archive template.

Yours is here: https://www.visitthecariboo.ca/places/
It looks like you have used a builder on the page. If you want to use GD’s built in sorting options you will want to switch in the GD Default content for the Archive template
[gd_loop_actions] [gd_loop layout=2] [gd_loop_paging]
GD Loop Actions displays the sorting options. You will probably need to use GD Loop, also, so that the listings respond to the sorting query.

I recommend you at least take a look through each of these, they explain all of the templates, what they are for, and what shortcodes are used on each of them.
Overview

Details
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/templates/GeoDirectory is built to scale, to 5 million listings, a feat that is basically impossible for other WP plugins because of how the data is stored. With GDV2 we have made significant changes to how the template system works. When it starts out at install, you have basic settings for every template in place. From there, it is about making it ‘yours’ using a builder or changing the configuration.
I’d say you have done pretty well for yourself, so far, but, perhaps a review of the templates will help to clarify their purpose, at least.
