Geodirectory completely fails to work with Multilingual Press

    Hi Stiofan,
    With regard to above title the current Geodirectory Plugin does not work with Multilingual Press plugin which is top notch plugin for large multilingual wordpress sites.

    I contacted the developer of the plugin and this what he has to say

    “OK, it is the Geodirectory plugin. It overwrites the $post object with … something else. It does many more crazy things, circumventing the regular WordPress API. :/

    I’m afraid there is nothing we can do. In order to get this working, we had to introduce dependencies on that plugin into our core. That’s something we just cannot do, because each time this plugin changes anything we would have a new bug in our plugin. My only advice is to find something that is written better. Much better.”

    So, can you please make the Geodirectory Plugin to work in line with this plugin given here

    Please note that I have purchased a pro version of the plugin which supports Custom post type.
    I can also give login details so that you can have a look at the current bugs of the site.

    I hope you could resolve the issue as early as possible.

    Hi stiofan,
    The current Bug is when I click on edit places post for the main site, it shows below error.

    “Catchable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to Mlp_Translation_Metabox::register_meta_boxes() must be an instance of WP_Post, instance of stdClass given in /home/orthodos/public_html/wp-content/plugins/multilingual-press-pro/inc/core/post-translator/Mlp_Translation_Metabox.php on line 118”

    Hi Kevin,

    We give no guarantees of multilingual support other than WPML.

    We could have built our complex system around the normal post object but with all our custom fields it would probably only been able to handle 1-2 thousand listings at most before it would become unusable and slow, by modifying the post object we open it up to being able to use millions of listings. GD is not a simple blog, it is a very complex web application.

    Hi Stiofan,

    I have the same problem as Kevin .

    Also I would like to use MultilingualPress Pro. WPML is for me and many others no alternative! GeoDirectory and MultilingualPress Pro would be an optimal solution for International and multilingual directorys .

    Hope you find a way that Geodirectory works with MultilingualPress Pro

    Hi Stiofan,
    I have already submitted it as a request 2 days before but it is not yet approved.

    Is there any temporary alternative to make Geodirectory compatible with multilingual press?

    I had no idea about this incompatibility. All it required was wordpress multisite.

    When it comes to Geodirectory with million listings, WPML plugin will simply fail to deliver performance.

    So I hope you consider Multilingual press as an alternative.

    I am highly interested in Multilingual Press compability as well.
    Maybe we can find a capable developer and split the costs?

    Hi Alex,
    Developing an addon or plugin to make Geodirectory compatible with Multilingual Press will be a temporary fix and not permanent fix.

    Every time there is change in the Geodirectory plugin, then there will be new bugs on our site. It will be hard time solving new and live bugs.

    And so it is recommended that Geodirectory Developers themselves include the support for multilingual press pro in its core Geodirectory plugin and addons.

    My request for compatibility has been accepted.
