GeoDirectory is a different part of the website. I need to install the Direct Starter theme but I don’t want it to change the rest of the site. How might I accomplish this?
January 18, 2018 at 1:13 am #413229Hello,
If that is possible, it would be with a 3rd party plug-in or some other service and outside of what we can help you with here in support.
GDv2 will be more flexible for other themes.
In the meantime you can share a link to your site and we can see if we can help with some CSS for theme compatibility.
Use the private reply option to keep your site URL private.
Thanks for writing in, and looking forward to seeing your site.
January 18, 2018 at 2:38 am #413230Just noting that you don’t need to use a GeoDirectory theme. The GeoDirectory plugin should work with your existing theme.
January 18, 2018 at 3:23 pm #413291Thanks, Alex. The link is at the beginning of my post.
I’ve been considering using a subdomain for this part of the site. That would clear up this issue and probably other issues, down the road.
When is GDv2 coming out?
January 18, 2018 at 4:14 pm #413299How would I do that? GeoDirectory creates its own pages using its own theme. Are there shortcodes that I could put in my own created pages?
January 18, 2018 at 4:38 pm #413305Hello Kent,
when you complete the basic installation you will be setting up the pages where the GD plugin will place your listings, like the home page and the listings pages.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/
That is very much independant of theme, you can use it with twentyseventeen or any theme out there.
You can adjust those settings atGD > Permalinks
GD comes with settings to place some widgets on those pages, and then you can add or adjust the widgets to meet your needs:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
There are lots of widgets and shortcodes to make sure you can find the right mix for your directory and your niche:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/widgets/
Let us know how it goes
January 18, 2018 at 5:03 pm #413310I just purchased the one year membership. I’m also buying the Genesis framework so I can use the Travel theme. I’m assuming all of this will be setup already, in the Travel theme. Am I correct?
January 18, 2018 at 5:34 pm #413318Hello,
when you install GD you will get the default settings, and we will be happy to help you get it setup like the demo.
January 18, 2018 at 9:50 pm #413357That would be great. How can we proceed?
January 18, 2018 at 10:02 pm #413359This is so frustrating. I’ve sat here all day trying to figure this thing out, but there’s no good documentation! Sure the documentation that is there tells about the widgets and so forth being available but no where are there instructions on how to put this all together. The instructions I followed for setting up the home page are worthless and incorrect. I’ve wasted 6 hours pulling my hair out and trying different things. There’s no way to actually talk to support, which in my estimation, isn’t offering support. I thought that was part of what I was paying for.
January 18, 2018 at 11:09 pm #413368I just found another issue. In the invoicing add on, under Emails>Payment Reminder, all of the options are for x days AFTER the due date! The reminder should be sent x days BEFORE the due date! This error makes it useless.
January 18, 2018 at 11:27 pm #413373You do NOT need another theme than the theme you currently use, GD should work with your current theme.
Installing GD will create the GD page automatically, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
If the directory is just a part of your site, there is no need to change anything to your homepage.
The settings in invoicing you are talking about are for when you use invoicing to create invoices unrelated to GD. To set expiry notices for GD packages, go to GD > Prices and Payments > Notifications tab > PRE EXPIRY NOTIFICATIONS TO CLIENTS
If you post your WP admin details in a private reply we can check your settings and get you on the road. (I can see an error that is probably related to https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#postnames )
Your LOCATION pages are here:

January 19, 2018 at 12:06 am #413375This reply has been marked as private.January 19, 2018 at 1:24 am #4133761. I corrected your permalinks as explained here : https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#postnames
2. If you want the map to show on the top, you need to add the map widgets to the GD top sections.
I have added the maps to the listings and search pages, they were already added to the Location pages.3. I am not sure what you mean with “advanced search overlay”. Can you please explain what you mean? Maybe give us a URL where you have seen what you mean?
4. The instructions for the Geo Travel theme are here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/geo-travel-genesis-child-theme-overview/
Thanks
