HI this is the first time I’m using POEDIT to edit the po files, new thing for me.
I want to change the “regions” label to States, since it’s in the U.S.

Do I do that in the PO file or do I do it somewhere else?

    Thanks!

    HI,

that is correct, to change any default text string of the plugins, you must do it via translation files.

Let us know how you went,

    Thanks

    HI Guys!
Getting back to this after a month.

I downloaded poedit, and found there are two po files
one in the plugin, and one in the theme.

I was able to edit the one in the plugin and since I”m not changing anythiing I just saved it and uploaded it. I’m not translating.

But no changes appear. Shouldnt’ that just work? Do I need to quit wordpress and reload?

I mean if I overwrite it should work, no?

    HI,

the translated file, which is the MO file, should be placed in wp-content/languages/geodirectory.

You must create the wp-content/languages/geodirectory folder and you don’t need to upload the po file too.

    Pls see: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/translate-core/

    Thanks

HI YES! Got it I realize after watching the videos.

The small amount of confusion coming is that I am using the Geodirectory theme, and the Geodirctory plugin, and sometimes things are in the theme, and somethimes they are in the plugin.

    All good!

And sometimes they are in the addon 🙂

But if you edit them from an add on you need to leave them in the add on, right?
Some you move to the main /wp-content/languages/geodirectory

but the others you leave in the add on or can you move them also?

If you do that, the changes will be deleted with the next update.
This explains where to save them: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/
