I’m still quite new to GD and figuring things out. I just had my launch of the new revamp this past week and I’m just starting to get people interacting with it. I’ve only had one person claim a listing so far…I have hundreds of listings waiting to be claimed that I manually added to my directory. (I’ve had this directory in a different format since 2001.)

This morning I opened my inbox to 2 emails with this subject:
    “New message from Janee”
Both from Fresno Family (my site). So I’m guessing this is from the system. I need to know what part of the system generates a message with that subject heading, as it’s someone asking to book a party and clearly they meant it for one of the party businesses I have listed, so I need to figure out who it is intended for. Obviously, it’s for a listing not yet claimed, as I am listed on the profile of all the unclaimed listings.

What I don’t know is if it was sent via the “send enquiry” button or whether it was sent some other way through the system. And if there’s any way to tell which business she was trying to contact? I’m a bit confused because if it was sent through the enquiry button, it should have gone directly to the business… so I’m not sure how this came to me… The listings that don’t have emails, I put fake emails in and turned off the buttons. So I’m perplexed as to how this came to me. If someone could help me figure this out, I’d be most appreciative!

Ok, because I want to know asap what’s going on, I went ahead and did more research after posting this…and did a test listing and messaged myself via that “send enquiry” button to see what the message says. So I discovered that that wording is indeed a message coming from that button.

So now my question is WHY is this message coming to ME and not to the email address that is on that listing?? I have had this problem for YEARS with people contacting me about booking things for businesses that I just list, and I had hoped that that button would solve this…argh!

I just checked the documentation and it looks like there is a box that can be checked to BCC admin on every send enquiry submit. But I checked and I do NOT have this box checked.

    So what’s going on?

There are settings in GeoDirectory to receive a BCC as admin, and then you might have added yourself to a notification on the form.

Check the form advanced settings for the emails it is sending out, and see if the site admin email is included in any of them. Remove that to avoid the messages.

Let us know how it goes, and include WP Admin credentials in a private reply if we need to check the settings.

Ah HA!!! As always, YOU ROCK, ALEX!! That’s exactly what it was! I had a notification in that advanced setting on the form. Never would I have found that without you! THANK YOU!

I’m actually going to leave it for now…at least until there starts to be a lot of interaction on the site. It is very comforting to see the interaction going on through my site! Plus I can confidently tell businesses that people DO INDEED use these forms and contact businesses!!

This is awesome! I’m excited to see it starting already!

Now, is there any way to make the form note what business they were contacting? I’m just curious. Might be interesting to see which businesses are getting the most attention. Particularly if it ends up being the featured ones. Or maybe a particularly popular category. Just might be good info to track, if there’s a way to do that.

I know the feeling, like, it’s fine as long as you know you can turn it off, eh?

For more about Ninja Forms, they have their own docs over here:

You have not yet setup the GD Contact Form in Ninja forms. You are using the default contact form that ships with Ninja Forms.

Once you setup the new form you will need to update the settings in the customizer. The setting is in the listing details section.

Good thing I DID get those BCCs because it led me to know this! Those emails this lady sent never got to the businesses! So now once I get this working, I will have to contact her and let her know! AND that she helped me out!
