Coming from a different directory platform I am getting used to the new approach here. I am trying to hone the listing packages so they match in terms of what the listing owners used to get on the old platform.

I was able to weight listing packages (according to price) so for example the ‘Gold’ listings were always positioned above Silver and Bronze in category and search results.

I don’t believe this is currently possible, but could I suggest it for a feature request?

You can sort listings by package.
Places > Settings > Custom fields > Package field > Show advanced > Include this field in sorting options > Yes.
    Then go to
Places > Settings > Sorting tab.

    Thanks

I am referring to how the listings are returned on category pages and in searches. So the more the customer pays for their listing, the more exposure they get in categories and in search results.

Are you referring to how the packages are listed as per attached?

In searches, results are always order by relevance to the search query.
On category or location pages, and in GD Listings elements, you can order by package.

Places > Settings > Custom fields > Package field > Show advanced > Include this field in sorting options > Yes. See image 1.

    Then go to
Places > Settings > Sorting tab. See image 2.

Here is a sample shortcode you can use after changing the above settings:

    [gd_listings sort_by="package_id_asc"]

Places > Settings > Custom fields > Package field > Show advanced > Include this field in sorting options > Yes. See image 1.
    …./wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=gd_place&page=gd_place-settings&tab=general

Please post your URL and WP admin details if we need to have a look at your settings.

    Thanks

There are no custom Fields. I will ask Stiofan to take a look as he has been working on this site.

All of the field you see there in the Custom Fields tab are ‘custom fields’.

Select any one of them on the right side, then click the blue button to show advanced which will reveal the option to include the field in the sorting options.

Then click on the sort tab to arrange the field sort options. Click on it.

If you want to sort by package ID then click on that, and look for the advanced options.

If you still can’t find it, of course please include your WP Admin credentials in a private reply and we can check the settings, maybe something is amiss.

Hi Alex, thanks for this. Is it possible to dictate how the results are sorted by default?

Yes I take it by using this approach (attached)

    Glad it’s working!

Yes, only one sort can be marked as the default.
