    Hi guys,
can you pleae have a look at my location switcher, when I change location it goes to 404 page and also does not specify current location like on your demo site. Do you know what I could have done wrong?

I’m sending thorugh admin login seperately in case you need it.

    My site is

    http://www.popupshops.com.au

    Regards.

You have customised or deleted your location page somehow.
I restored it for you (first deleted the page, then went to GD tools to resurrect it).
    Please check.

    Hi Guust,
I changed the name of locations to pop-up-shop ie customised it by name. Thanks for restoring but now there are no events showing (my events are pop-up-shops) even though there are some listed in admin and also that resutls page when I change location is narrower than the other pages. You can check this by changing locations. I can only see one listing when change location to everywhere?

I think you are confusing location and category pages.

    Location [GD home] pages:
    http://www.popupshops.com.au/location/australia/queensland/gold-coast/
    http://www.popupshops.com.au/location/

    Category [GD Listings pages:
    http://www.popupshops.com.au/pop-up-shops/
    http://www.popupshops.com.au/pop-up-shops/variety-markets-1/

Your widget at GD Home for the events was only set to display 2 listings; I changed it to 50 so now you have 50 of them listed on the everywhere location page.

    Hi Guust,
I’m getting very lost and confused, thats for sure, and a little bit frustrated too 🙁

Okay, so when I change the location, the page I’m directed to does not match the rest of the theme (its a GD theme, not my own) ie the page is narrower than other pages?

Secondly, The location is only changeable in location switcher, not the Advanced Search box. surely there should be some sort of search reset button that allows a fresh search without leaving the page. i researched and there is a way by adding a link to /location/ but that takes a user to another page. Is there no way of simply resetting the search box without going to another page?

Thirdly, when I do a search with a large radius for Markets on the Gold Coast (use Coolangatta as location) nothing comes up, but I have 2 Makrets listed nearby within 50km.

Apologie if I sound rude, but I have been trying to get this software to work now for so long and am coming across many stumbling blocks for what I think are very easy functions for a directory.

    regards.

You did set the location pages to only show the main section and not the sidebar, I fixed it for you at GD > design > home > Show the right section of home page > YES.
    See also https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#typical

The location switcher is to switch locations, ie from city to region or city etc, so you can see all listings in a city or region.
The search is to search for listings near a particular spot.
    See also https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#search

Once a visitor chooses to navigate to a particular city, the search will be in that city.
If the visitor does want to search in a different area, they should go back to that different area. That’s how it usually works.
    I changed your settings at
GD > advanced search > Enable Near autocompleter: YES
so you can now type in a different city in the NEAR field and the page will change location.

A radius of 50 km equates to an area of 7850 sq km or 3000 sq miles. Your settings are set at 40 square miles.

I realise that GD is not your ordinary plugin and that there are heaps of settings, so feel free to ask if you cannot find the answer at https://docs.wpgeodirectory.com

    Thanks Guust,
I was very frustrated last night, didn’t mean to be rude. I’ll yell out for help instead next time 🙂

Is it at all possible to have the the Advanced Search to use dropdown instead of autocomplete? For example, I have Variety Markets as a catergory which autocompletes as I type it Var…, but I would prefer it to just be there as a dropdown option lime in my screenshot of Yelp?

    Regards.

If you add the category custom field to the advanced search, you will have a drop down with categories. But exactly the same as yelp is not available.

THanks Guust, how do I go about adding a category custom field to advanced search?

    Regards.

GD > Popshop settings > custom fields > category field > include this field in filter > YES > save.
    Then
GD > Popshop settings > Advance search > add category field to advanced search

I’ve quickly done it as I wrote the above, so go and adjust as required.
