    GeoDirectory Team,

This is a little off topic but is directly related to a need I have with GeoDirectory. I notice that you carry memberships between wpgeodirectory.com and wpinvoicing.com very well. At the same time, you have a blog post describing your journey to host BuddyPress on a subdomain and still carry memberships across.

Could you describe in a bit more detail about how or what plugins you are using to do this?

While I know multisite does not allow for this directly, I am still curious.

On a separate note, it would be great if we had the ability to place all the “business owner” functionality under a subdomain, leaving the “consumer” listing functionality under a main site. This would allow for the “business owner” site to have custom sales content, sales funnels and a less distracted listing management experience. At the same time, the “consumer” site could be very tailored for the end user. In my case, my “consumers” must be paid members to see all the details about a listing which is a bit confusing when having paid listings from “business owners” on the same site. Trying to funnel each user type is quite a balancing act.

Thanks in advance on sharing a little more about how you carry memberships across wpinvoicing.com and wpgeodirectory.com.

    Tom

Correction: It was bbPress, not BuddyPress and for others the blog post is here.

    Hello!

Those are good ideas for streamlining how listing owners interact with the site and we’ll keep them in mind for future version.

For a customized experience like that, working with the API is an option. WordPress authentication is possible using the WordPress API, and the current GeoDirectory API can be used to accomplish listing updates and a whole lot more.

For more details about the way our sites are setup, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for a future blog post on the subject 😉

While I know multisite does not allow for this directly, I am still curious.

It is done with multisite: multisite shares the users across sub-sites by default.
In a mulitisite, all sites are basically independent, but the users are shared.

You cannot share listings across different sub-sites, so business owners need to add listings at the same sub-site where you want other users to comment.

    Thanks
