    Hi,

I am having quite a few issues with Geodirectory. I’ll split them into separate queries (as advised to do previously), but just letting you know in case the issues are somehow related.

I published a business listing a few days ago. It’ll stay published for maybe 10 minutes, and will then default back to the drafts section. I’ve republished it 3 times over the past 2 days. Here is a link to the listing: https://playinginpuddles.com.au/businesses/central-coast-physie-and-dance/

Can you please tell me why it is doing this and how I can stop it continuing to do this?

    Thank you,
    Katie

    Hi Katie,

Thanks for your post. We’ll need to check your GD setup for this. Could you please share WP admin credentials in private reply?

    Thanks!

There was a problem with your GD permalinks, but I resaved them with the location in the URL. Without it your site will not have location pages.

Please try again and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Alex,
EEK! No, that is not working well at all now. Please revert back to how it was.

I don’t believe the permalink is the problem as all my other links were working and they didn’t have the location set in the permalink. I added a business just a few weeks ago and it worked fine. Have you made a recent change that would be making this error occur?

Can you please have another look, as this change is making a whole lot of my pages now bring up error messages – eg. https://playinginpuddles.com.au/businesses/

My website is a local site. It makes no sense for me to have Australia/New South Wales in my URL. People on my site primarily want to search for categories not location. i.e. if they look up events, they want to be able to filter them by markets, kids shows, and sporting events for example, not location.

The setting is at GD – Permalinks , the part about ‘add the location in the URL’

I set it back, but, as I mentioned, you will likely have 404 pages as your theme shows breadcrumbs for locations.

    Hello Katie,

as Kor mentioned, the next best step is to perform a conflict test.

As your site is live, it may be best to setup a test or staging site to diagnose the issues.

If you already have a staging site setup, please send over the credentials so we can perform further diagnosis.

At this time it appears that there is a conflict, where another plugin that is also active in the backend/dashboard is interfering with the normal operations of GD.

What we recommend is disabling all non-GD plugins, and switching to a simple theme like Supreme Directory in order to diagnose the issue.

This can interrupt normal operations, so, putting a ‘under construction’ sign up is one option.

Let us know how you want to proceed.

    Hi Kor and Alex,

I performed the conflict test as you advised. I deactivated all plugins other than those for Geodirectory and then tried to add a recurring event again. I had the same problem. The recurring event defaulted back to a non-recurring event.

This is how you replicate the problem:
    1) click on this link: https://playinginpuddles.com.au/submit-an-event/
    2) Click “Add an event”
    3) Select “event” in the drop-down.
    4) choose “free event listing”
    5) in dates select “yes” for recurring event.
    6) select Custom.
    7) Click on multiple dates.
    8) Fill out other * info.
    9) Hit publish.
    10) The preview shows the multiple dates – as it should.
    11) What then lands in my drafts folder is different. The event schedule says, “no” it’s not a recurring event, and only one date (the first date) is there. See screen shots attached.
    12) When I hit publish it publishes the listing with only the first date listed.

Please let me know what you find with the recurring issue.
    Thank you,
    Katie.

ps. I have now noticed that the “Different event times” button only comes up if you select “custom” rather than if you select “Daily”, “weekly” etc.

Hi Alex, Guust from your Geodirectory team added that plugin for me and it’s been in use on my site since the site was first created some 12 months ago. Can you please check with him what the plugin is? Though, it was working before, so I don’t understand why it would now be interfering with this.

If Guust can let me know please which plugin this is, I’ll run a test.

I will send FTP details once I get home.

    Which plugin, exactly?

Guust added those extra menu items when he assisted me with some problems I was havign with Geodirectory. I mentioned that it was frustrating having to click on each thing to see if there was a new entry that required action – e.g. a new entry that needed publishing. He added those extra menu items. I’m assuming, as you said, that this is created by a plugin rather than coding, but if you’re not sure I think it’s simplest you ask Guust.
