I have enabled “If checked non logged in users will be able to post listings from the frontend. ” in advanced settings but this page https://townapp.co.nz/add-listing is still requiring a login to post a new listing – is there something else I need to do to enable non-logged in users to create listings?

It’s not asking to log in but is asking for a name and email so your site can send them confirmation and so they will be able to edit their listing etc.
The form is a user registration and listing submission in one.

    Thanks

Hi Guust, I’ve had a person make a listing and they got an email asking them to change their password. I had another person become a user without making a listing (how does that occur?). also, I’ve made a few listings with different email addresses and I haven’t received one email asking me to change password. I’m getting a bit confused. Can you explain please what’s happening? Thanks.

Visitors that use the name/email on the form do not set a password, it is set automatically, so, they receive an email to set a password.

Please install the email log plugin from WP.org to see which emails are being created:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/

Listings are not being published immediately. You can change that setting in the general settings, make sure to use the blue button to show all the advanced options. It is possible they are reporting that they can’t access a listing from their account because it is not published.

The other option is to use UsersWP to get users registered before they add a listing.

Actually I got an emailed to my personal address and when I logged in after changing the password, it took me to ‘Add Place’ but I had already added one prior ….. I’ve already had one user creating two listings because of this flow. I’m probably doing something silly so if you could let me know that would be great.

That’s pretty cool Alex and I think I can work with this even with my low level of skill. I can get them registering now with wpusers, and I can use peter’s Login/Redirect plugin to send them to the Add Listing page on login. What I can’t figure out is an easy way for them to get to their listing page next time they login to edit it without having had to go to the Add Listing page first? Sorry to be a pain!

You do not need an extra plugin to redirect the login page. Have a look at UsersWP > General tab > Login sub-tab > Login Redirect Page

You can redirect the Login page to their Profile page, and then add all listings there:
UsersWP > Addons tab > GeoDirectory sub-tab > CPT listings in profile
    and then
UsersWP > General tab > Profile sub-tab > Choose the tabs to display in Profile

    Thanks

Thanks Guust – I have it all working for users now except for one thing. The add listing page isn’t forcing people to create an account for some reason. What have I done wrong there? https://townapp.co.nz/add-listing

    You have set
GD > Settings > General tab > Show Advanced > Allow posting without logging in? > YES
so an account will be created as part of the listing submission.

If you want to force account creation first, then set that option to NO.

    Thanks
