    site with loading issues: https://linuxusergroups.org

    I am having some big page loading issues with my site after I switched from HTTP to HTTPS. I also did a migration from one hosting company to another during this period so that could be the problem as well.

    I edited the WP config and the permalink stuff to make sure it uses the new https and to make sure that all the database stuff is working properly. The site works with connecting to the database and everything but for some reason none of the stylesheet stuff is loading after the migration.

    Any thoughts as to a potential solution?

    I should probably also mentioned that I know the WP migration went through just fine because I migrated other websites during the same period from the previous servers to the same new servers.

    tuxdigital.com and ugetdm.com were both migrated also and while they have some mixed content issues, they are loading mostly everything properly.

    The only big difference between the installs is linuxusergroups.org using WPGeoDirectory where as the others do not.

    Hi Michael,

    You will need to use a plugin like better-search-replace to find those non-ssl and update them to the correct URL.

    thank you very much for that suggestion as that did solve some of the issues. This will also be helpful in other migrations so thanks for that.

    Unfortunately, there is still an issue with it loading the site weird.

    I narrowed it down to GD Booster. I disabled the cache from GD Booster then the site works fine for loading stylesheets and such. I re-enabled GD Booster and the same issue came back. I have clicked to clear the cache in GD Booster multiple times but the issue persists.

    Hi Michael,

    I’ve reinstalled the GD Booster addon and it seems to work fine now. Could you please check?

    Yea, reinstalling the addon apparently has fixed that issue.

    I see another issue though. I dont know if it is relevant or not but if you don’t mind taking a look . . . the map on the homepage isn’t loading. I only want to use OpenStreetMaps for the map display on the site and it seems to work fine when viewing a listing but the homepage isn’t loading. Any ideas?

    I did some more testing. If I switch to use the default OpenStreetMap style it works fine but when I turn it to the Black and White version nothing renders.

    Hello Michael,

    I have enabled map style OpenStreetMap.Mapnik and it is working fine. Map style OpenStreetMap.BlackAndWhite not working on your site but it is working on my test site.

    Please provide us FTP credentials so we can investigate to find reson behind this.

    As I stated previously, the default OpenStreetMap style works fine but the B&W version isn’t working.

    I found the issue. The B&W version only supports HTTP, not HTTPS.

    WPGeoDir is using the src value of “//c.tiles.wmflabs.org/bw-mapnik/5/7/10.png” to load the map images but due to WP defaulting to https, the site automatically requests for “https://c.tiles.wmflabs.org/bw-mapnik/5/7/10.png”. This is what causes the failure to load.

    OpenStreetMap does support HTTPS which is why it loads just fine when switching back to it.

    The B&W version is not important enough to me to bother with this further so I will default back to regular OSM style. Hopefully, one day the people who serve the B&W version will support HTTPS so this is no longer an issue.

    Have a nice day and thank you for the assistance. 🙂

    Hello,

    While we are looking into that, you could try Stamen toner, which seems to work on my test site over https.

    We have fixed issue and it will be available in next release of custom google maps plugin.
    Provide FTP if you want us to update patch on your site before next release.

    Thanks,

    @alex,
    tested and Stamen Toner works fine. All of the Stamen options work fine.

    @kiran,
    I don’t care about the particular map color that much. I am fine with the basic OpenStreetMap style at this point but one of the Stamen Toners might be something to consider as well.
