Permalinks to CPTs and Categories?

    Are there permalink URLs to the various CPTs and Categories? For example, I want to create a link to url.com/directory/places/restaurants andd url.com/directory/events.

    The purpose is to put icons with certain categories on my homepage. Is this possible?
