Hi there, somehow when going through setup I have added a category to the left of the search
I just want the Search for: and then the Near: fields
How can I remove the Places etc category selector dropbox?
see screen grab
cheers

March 26, 2016 at 9:24 am #146149Places is not a category but a custom post type [CPT]. You can only search one one CPT at the same time. You should only hide that if you have no other CPTs and then it will self-hide anyway.
March 27, 2016 at 12:36 pm #152260Hi there,
mmm ok, so talk yelp for example you can just start typing “web” and web design starts to show up…
but needing to select the cpt then means this doesnt happen unless you are on the correct cpt..
there must be a way of doing that? without needing them all in the same post type?
Or should I just not categorise them? but categories are good but just need to be able to do the search of all custom post types?
Surely?

March 27, 2016 at 12:40 pm #152284You do not need to use CPTs if you don’t want to, you can use categories and subcategories, see more at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/places-categories-and-listings/
Places is not a category but a custom post type [CPT].
March 27, 2016 at 1:20 pm #152319Ahhh ok, I need them all under Places then and then in a category under that,
mmmm Is there a way you know of switching the custom posts I have added under other headings to the places custom post type?
Or shall I remove them and re add them?
Cheers, you have been very helpful 🙂

March 28, 2016 at 11:20 am #152624Can we have FTP and WP admin details in a private reply please for starters.
March 28, 2016 at 11:53 am #152628This reply has been marked as private.March 28, 2016 at 12:12 pm #152638You need to increase your memory limit:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHPAll seems fine again, except the limit is giving you errors.
I also de-activated GD Booster, there seems to be some conflict. I’ll get Stiofan to look at that, but first increase memory.
