    Ref: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/shortcode-gd_listings-showing-all-places/

Issue remains… just over a month with no response / fix.

I had another look at that, and like Kiran said, the majority of your listings do not have a category.
There is no listing at all in cat 539, so the shortcode then goes to “all” cats.
I added one listing to the photography cat and all seems well.
    Thanks

Guust, Thank you for following up. It was not clear at all in the prior post that this was not an issue, but rather a “default” operation for the listings.

This “Catch all” is certainly not optimal… where can we disable this “show all” feature?

Kiran; this was occurring on any shortcode for which the place category had no places assigned.
I’ve now assigned a single profile to all categories, so we’ve “alleviated the issue”… although I would much prefer a switch or message be displayed that there are no listings (places) versus listing all of the places in the system.

Is it possible to disable the “catch all” type feature for the shortcode? We need to stop displaying all of the categories for which are empty (No places assigned), and simply display some other controlled message.

    Hi RussM,

If you want to display custom message when results are empty then you can set custom content between shortcode tags.
    For ex:

    [gd_listings ……]No places found in this category![/gd_listings]

If you enter content between opening and ending gd_listings tag, this content will be printed when results are empty.

Let us know if this is not you asked.

    Thanks,
    Kiran

Kiran; Thank you! Would html be supported for this message? I’ll test today.

Kiran; this doesn’t seem to work.
The page I tested on just seems to continuing pushing out the same list of all places.

I’ve also tried with both plain text and adding an html link.

Is there something else one can try?
