Hi all,
I have noticed a lot of questions around the ability to sort/filter search results.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/sort-by-filter-in-search-page/
Has this functionality been added yet?
After my customers have searched they want to refine their search by customer ratings newest oldest etc.. but I can’t see a way to do this.
For example a customer may want to see what their search results lowest rated reviews are saying without having to scroll to the end.
This functionality is available in trip advisor and other sites.
September 23, 2018 at 12:01 pm #447367That is not possible yet, search results are displayed based on the relevance to the search query of your visitor. Some things may change in the future with the new V2 version, but nothing has been added at this time.
ThanksSeptember 23, 2018 at 4:16 pm #447393Thanks Guust.
Do you know of any effective workarounds?
Also when can we expect to see V2 roll out? Thanks
September 23, 2018 at 10:05 pm #447397Make sure that your visitors can access the Location Switcher easily, and that the Location pages have clear links to all categories. Then they can us the Listings page with full sorting, rather than searching.
Please have a look at https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-release-candidate/ and https://wpgeodirectory.com/category/blog/
Thanks

Do you have a link to understanding the location switcher?
Also are there plans to develop this feature in V2 I couldn’t see specifics in your link?
If so is it in the immediate future or long term?
September 27, 2018 at 9:00 am #447949Hi!
When you have a chance, you can install V2 and test out the new Location Switcher.
There are as yet no plans to enable sorting of search results in V2.

September 27, 2018 at 9:28 am #447953You can see the V1 location switcher in action here in the menu top right: https://wpgeo.directory/docs/
See also https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/multilocations/#mainAt this time the search features in V2 are basically the same as in V2. There are no concrete plans as to what changes will be made if any, but relevance to the search query will always need to be the priority because that is what visitors expect.
Thanks
September 27, 2018 at 7:23 pm #448038Thanks Both,
So with the location switcher can you have the same fields as the Best of widget?
I would like at minimum the sorting categories in the best widget.
I only have 1 category and that category has no features so unless i can sort by reviews/listings it doesn’t really help me.
Can this be done?
Thanks
September 27, 2018 at 10:22 pm #448051“the Best of” widget has no sorting options. Only Listings pages do. Possibly you are talking about clicking on the View All link in the “the Best of” widget that takes you to a Listings page.
Maybe understanding the pages better may assist: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
If you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply, then we can point out things a bit more easily.
Thanks

We use GT to refer to the old GeoTheme that was the predecessor of GD.
We use GD to refer to GeoDirectory, so when we say “GD > Design” for example, we mean to visit the GeoDirectory menu in your site’s WP admin area, and then follow the Design link.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/if i wanted to changed the titles of the menu after T&Cs how would i do this?
To change LISTING and ADD LISTING, you need to use the language file, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translate-core/
To change CHANGE LOCATION, you need to use the Location Manager location file, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/LISTING, ADD LISTING and CHANGE LOCATION dont appear to be in the menu?
They are added at your menu settings at GD > Design > Navigation.
