    Hi,

While doing some UX testing, it was apparent that in the presence of several listings, the user wanted to sort as well as filter the search results for a particular location by

    1. ratings
    2. facilities available / custom field results
    3. distance from a location.

Filtering / sorting search results page based on User rating seem to be the most wanted feature.

How do I accomplish this? Is this feature available in any add-on?

    Hi Devang,

Thanks for reaching us. All of these can be achieved by using this addon https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/advanced-search-filters/ . Go through the documentations for more info. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/advanced-search-filters-addon-search-by-distance/

    Thanks!

Thanks but it just talks about the search and distance perimeter setting.

Let me make it crystal clear.

    Steps
    1. User enters search for and near and presses search eg: search for italian restaurant near Santa Clara

    2. As part of search results, the User sees all restaurants serving Italian in Santa Clara. By default this result is sorted based on distance from Santa Clara (according to proximity perimeter set in GD settings)

    >> IMPORTANT – DOES THIS FUNCTIONALITY EXISTS <<

    3. User is presented Sorting drop down based on Ratings , Facilities and other custom fields defined

    4. User chooses Ratings in the drop down list

    5. User sees the search results re-organized to show highest rated options first.

See example from TripAdvisor attached for further clarity.

    Hi,

    please see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/sort-by-filter-in-search-page/

    This would require a customization.

    Thanks

    Hello,

What you are describing is almost impossible and no one does it, not even trip advisor, but there are some other ways to do it, let me explain what can and cant be done:

Cant be done: Search for a keyword in an area and then expect to filter those results, the results are already ordered by the keyword, ordering by anything else would/could bring irrelevant results like a top rated book store with text “we are not an Italian restaurant”… example i can search foe scones near an area and i dont get any way to sort it: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Search?q=scones&geo=186478&pid=3825&typeaheadRedirect=true&redirect=&startTime=1462895605218&uiOrigin=MASTHEAD&returnTo=http%253A__2F____2F__www__2E__tripadvisor__2E__co__2E__uk__2F__&searchSessionId=4BDE65138DE4A8AC8A9C83257C96BBBC1462899188881ssid

    What could be done:
Is we cold add to the advances search a autocompleate for search that lists cats in a dropdown, if selected then we could then add filtering as their is no keyword just a category and/or and area. (we already list cats words as suggestions in advanced search but we set them as keywords, we would need to work on this to make it possible)

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
