    You do not have any theme language files in the correct spot.

    Ok, I have downloaded us_US file translated with poedit saved as it_IT and loaded into the folder wp-content/themes/directory-starter/languages/ and wp-content/languages/themes.
    Is this correct or do I have to do something else?

    Look at the links I gave, they will tell you how to name the language files.
    supreme-directory-it_IT.po
    directory-starter-it_IT.po

    Those files need to be in /wp-content/languages/themes/ exactly like the link I posted earlier.
