    Hi,

My site’s default language used to be English. I loaded the French .mo file in wp-content/languages/geodirectory for the basic translation. Then I used WPML string translation to correct a lot of the default translation that I didn’t like or to add missing translations. This was working fine.

Now I switched the site’s default language to French and most of the translations I made with WPML are gone. It looks like the .mo file now overwrites what I did in WPML. How can I keep the default language in English and keep using the translations I created with WPML string translation ?

    Thanks,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

This sounds like a post for the WPML support or am i missing something?

    Hi Stiofan,

It could very well be the case, providing there’s no link between how GD interacts with its own .mo file and/or WPML. Is that so?

    Thanks,
    Marc

We do extend where WP checks for the mo files, maybe it is reading an old one?
we now recommend wp-content/languages/plugins/ rather than wp-content/languages/geodirectory/
Maybe you have an old file somewhere?

Bam! I moved my .mo files to wp-content/languages/plugins/ and my issue is solved…
No wonder I try opening tickets with you guys first, solved in minutes 🙂

    Thanks, as always!

P.S: the doc in this page should be updated to reflect the directory change:
