    Hi,

I’m new to web design with WP and I’m planning on using Astra theme and designing new pages with GD shortcode builder to build fully functional GD search pages, listings etc etc.

Can someone please tell me what the general best practice is for designing a website with GD? In the documentation under ‘Design’ there is lots of information about building and customising different shortcodes to build pages. Is this the general way everyone builds and styles their own GD functional pages? Additionally, if this is the case, can someone explain why/when the default GD pages and templates installed would be of use to me (e.g. Location page and Search Archive Template).

    Many thanks,
    Fraser

    Hi Fraser,

Thanks for your post. In GDv2, GD templates will be populated with shortcodes and it can be customized any way you want. Since you’re using a 3rd party theme, you can use it’s page builders for your GD pages and templates https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/page-design/ and display the GD modules using shortcodes https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/shortcode-builder/
