    Hi,

I use Enfold and just updated from V1 to v2.

The upgrade was easy. Now I have to fix a few things.

The search doesn’t show results and the short code generator is not working properly in Enfold / Avia Layout Builder.

To show you I made this page. https://movechamps.nl/5029-2/

As you can see the magnifying glass goes through the placeholder.

Hope you can help with these issues. Thanks, Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your post. Please make sure that you’ve followed the conversion steps correctly here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/installation/#convert . Could you share your Website WP admin access here so that I could check your GD setup?

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I do not claim to be an expert in Avia, and I cannot say I know for certain how you created the page content on the page you link.

However, when I logged in to edit that page, I clicked on the .. block? and it opened a modal popup. Inside that popup was the GD Shortcode builder button.

I clicked on it and setup a GD Search shortcode, and clicked insert.

It inserted fine, and once I saved the page it rendered fine on the frontend.

Whatever was done before appears to have mangled (technical term) the shortcode and made it not work.

In the future, if that happens again, I would avoid that method of insertion, and simply copy the shortcode from the shortcode builder window instead of using the “Insert Shortcode” button.

Can you explain how it happened? Maybe that will help us understand how we can make it work better with Avia.

    Hi Peter,

    1. the search icons is a CSS thing, i have fixed it and will be in the next release.
    2. the search not working i am not sure of, it works on my test site, if u can provide FTP i will dig deeper.
    3. I’ll look at the shortcode builder to see if i can make it smoother.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hi Stiofan,

I am sorry. I am screwing it up. I was working in the site aswell. And did Enfold update and for some reason the social media icons on the detail page disappeared. So I put the backup on hour back.

Also In the slider, when I chose an image size. The size doesnt change.

Sorry. Won’t touch it untill further notice.

I’ll put backup in place if you send me message.

    Thanks, Peter

For a short term fix, please do the following:

To recreate the search page, add a new page, then add the default content in a classic editor block

GD – Settings – General – Pages – Search – View default content

Then set the page as the search page.

To work with shortcodes directly, you can install the classic editor plugin and use that in backend edits, then copy paste the codes into your builder editor area.

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/gutenberg/#classic

Otherwise you can edit the page with blocks, or, it seems you can add a widget area, and use GD widgets in that widget area.

We have created a task to continue to work on the Avia builder performance. The editor has quite a bit of active javascript, so, making the shortcode builder work is a challenge. We will post an update about work on this when available.

    Hi Alex,

I took a break from this. Added a third editor doesn’t make me happy. I will probably switch to a theme that is more future proof in combination with GD.

    Thanks, Peter
