Hello,
Is the following possible
In the GD Detail sidebar of a listing (place) I have the widget GD > Popular post view. There location filter is checked. So when I’m on a detail page of a place it shows other places in that city. Is it possible to have a title like this: Also in XXXX (where XXX is the name of the city)

Hello!

That is not currently possible with the GD Popular Post View widget, but you might come up with a similar solution using a Location Manager shortcode.

GD Popular Posts View currently supports

You might, for example:

Enable shortcodes in widgets
Add the Current Location shortcode to a widget with the text you mentioned
Place the text widget above the Popular Post View widget
Hide the title of the Popular Post View widget
