Featured is accounted for in relevance, ie, featured posts that match by keyword are more relevant because they are featured.
Sorting options are not available for search results, which are always sorted by relevance or distance for near searches.

the search autocomplete for categories is just that, an autocomplete.
The setting to adjust it is in the Advanced Search settings

I think what you might want to do is add a new GD Categories shortcode to the search template, and set that for subcategories only.
It looks like you have pointed the Archive template setting at the blog page (or the blog at the archive).
