Tags, Checkboxes, Radio, Select, Categories and Text fields can all be used.
In 90% of cases I think folks would use tags or categories for this because they are searchable in the “Search for” field.

Yes, there should be a Details page for each one.
This 404 error can usually be fixed by resaving permalinks as described here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/permalinks/#404

Shortcode fields used in the tabs can take HTML.
That would require your own customization.

The most common way to do that is with GD Listings.
Many GD shortcodes will take an ID as a parameter.
