Perfect. Thanks!
So what can I do to help people move to create a listing? People are registering and stopping at that.

I’ve deactivated and activated the plugin a number of times. It will look like it’s working fine, then I go away and when I come back it’s deactivated again. Claim Listings is the only GD plugin this is happening with and is becoming a bit of an issue.
So awesome. Thanks very much Alex!

I added a Select field for members to select their home chapter. I’m entering existing members, and when I select one chapter, save/publish, it defaults to something else.
I tried the Multiselect field but after publishing, it would auto-select all the fields instead of the one I’d selected when completing a profile.
What’s wrong?Ah, thanks for the fix on the margins, much nicer!
To itemize the rest:
1] about the Design > Navigation: Enabling it once more I remember why I disabled it. I didn’t want the other pages as top-level pages. On reflection, I can see how Add listing in the top level nav is good. But it reads simply “Listing”. Can I change that to “Add listing”?
1A] Place settings Q:
Though I’ve gone in and customized the Place Settings, not all my changes show up. I changed the names of ‘Place’ to ‘Name’ (for Admin title) and Practitioner Name (for Frontend title), with a note in the Frontend description that are user-centred. Why do they not show up on the Add listing page as the other changes do? Is there anything that can be done so the words used can be more friendly toward the people who we’re reaching?(Jumping to an aside to explain the site within a site confusion, what I meant was that by keeping the GD home page as my Directory as a tp level page in the navigation, I’d lost how to find the Add listing and details pages etc. But never mind, now that I’ve put Add listing back in the navigation!)
2] Thanks for the custom link, I’ll use that on call-to-action buttons. Thanks also for fixing the Add Listing page – I’ll be sure to leave Elementor alone, though that’s hard! You might have noticed I did add a headline, copy and button at the top of the body of the directory page (using Elementor) – will that be ok?
3] About the design template for the pages, my General Settings for the website are set at:
Content width: 72%
Sidebar width: 28%
I don’t understand why my settings for the rest of the site aren’t applied to the body of the GD pages – on those pages, there is no margin or padding on the left or right side of the pages, in the body (not the header). While I don’t want to get bogged down in design details right now, I’m sure I should be able to fix this eventually and welcome suggestions 🙂
4] Thanks too for the link to the users plugin. At this point it feels a bit above me but I’ve saved it for later!
I’m sorry, to go back to Kor’s bit of CSS: I was looking to bump in the margins on the body, not in the top of the page content (what I consider the header).
So if the map and search bar on the landing page of the directory are considered part of the body, how can I bring back the header that was in my template? (It was integrated into the rest of the page content when I made my directory page the GD home page – so I deleted it)
Thanks!
Also, if I go to mysite/gd-login, it takes me to the home page of my site, not the directory page (the main GD page) or a form for a listing. (I’m trying to create a listing as a new user from the front end and can’t.)
I’m wondering if I can pass this next question back to Alex, for continuity.
Because I set up my directory as a page within a larger site, the child pages aren’t showing up in my menu as I see them in the examples where GeoDirectory is installed with its own theme as a home page.
This is an issue for create a listing. I want members of the organization the website is designed for to come to the site and set up their own listing. I’ve created a button for that on the directory main page (still unlinked) and would love to have a button or something in the right sidebar of the other pages for people to register their practices. Am I missing something? Did I unselect something I shouldn’t have?
Thanks! If I’ve gone too far off the first question and should start a new thread, just let me know 🙂
Thanks Kor, so great.
