OK, thanks for the help guys. As always the support has been outstanding and I’ll make sure I write a nice review for GD on WP.
You guys have a great product.
Thanks 🙂
Thanks, that solved it! I had to download and update the .po as you said before the string appeared. It’s there now and the translation works OK.
I’m still not sure why there’s the character limit when I have the limit set to no. For some reason it’s still there.
Under GD > Prices and Payments > Prices > Edit
I have Apply tags limit? set to no.
But on the Add Listing page I still have this text:
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to 40 characters only for this package.
So I’m still confused
There should be no text about any tag limit in the first place AND I’m still not sure why the .mo translation is not working.
The only place I have found the text so far is in the core en_US.po file but as mentioned before, translating it has no effect.
I have the same issue with “Please enter listing address. eg. : 230 Vine Street” staying English.
doesn’t matter what I input into translation it doesn’t work.
Did you guys find a solution to it?
Thanks
Awesome!
Thanks Stiofan.
You know how when you spend so long looking at code and options you start missing the obvious?
Cheers 🙂
resolved
OK, that’s too bad. I’ll try to think of another option.
Thanks for the reply 🙂
closed my side.
Hi Guust,
Didn’t work.
It’s in the geodirectory-en_US.po file
Here is the source text exactly
Tags are short keywords, with no space within.(eg: tag1, tag2, tag3) Up to 40 characters only.
I’ve tried a few different translations but nothing else seems to work. It always shows the source text.
Stumped!
Thanks 🙂
Thanks Guust,
I missed that doc somehow while I was looking for the answer. Thanks for the reply. Really helpful.
Works perfect now so this topic resolved my side 🙂
Actually, if you don’t mind a follow up question while on the subject of custom fields:
Can you please explain a little more about the HTML variable name. I see it must be a ‘unique name’ and that raises a question for me.
If I have the same custom field such as the ‘time’ field mentioned above in all of my custom post type settings can I use the same html variable name ‘timing’ for all of them? Or do I need to change that for each CPT such as ‘timing’, ‘timing_1’, ‘timing_2’ etc.
Hope that makes sense! Just trying to fully understand what you mean by ‘must be a unique name’
Thanks
Thanks Simone, that’s a good solution! Resolved 🙂
Thanks Stiofan,
I did have a look through the default .po file but I looked for “Select Option” first and when I didn’t find it I posted the help request. Actually, I made a mistake as I can see the “Sort By” text there so sorry for the confusion. I’ve had another look and I still can’t find the “Select Option” text anywhere. Sorry if I’m blind, do you mind having a second look?
Cheers 🙂

October 9, 2014 at 5:15 pm in reply to: Advanced Search Multiselect is doing a AND instead of OR #17888Thanks for clearing that up Paolo. Is there no way you can put an AND/OR option on the advanced search widget?
My site lists tradesmen and I want the search results to be as relevant as possible to save the user doing a lot of work. I see the field searches titles, descriptions and taxonomies. Let’s use an example for one of my listings:
Title: Dave’s Plumbing
Description: We do all kinds of plumbing, emergency repair and inspection work. I’ve been a plumber for over 10 years.
Taxonomy: PlumbersNow if a user searches: “Emergency Plumber” just for example
They will not currently get this listing (correct me if I’m wrong!)
But if we give the field an OR option it will match those words and give me Dave’s listing.
It’s just my personal view and I know you have the masses to consider but I really believe it will help the results to be much more relevant for a lot of users.
Happy to hear your views on it!
Thanks
October 9, 2014 at 3:37 pm in reply to: Advanced Search Multiselect is doing a AND instead of OR #17873OK, thanks Tony. Are you not worried about losing the mod when you update GD?
Any thoughts anyone else?
Thanks

Just to take my question a step further, if I make the modification will it work if I upload the file into my child theme under child theme/geodirectory/geodirectory_advenace_search_functions.php so that I don’t lose the customisation after GD updates?
