I cannot replicate that in a standard install trying from both backend and frontend.
Do you make the test listings from the back or front end?

The limit is for a standard search (if you are not using the “near me” feature).
The “near me” slider settings cannot be adjusted, they will always allow your visitors to search up to 200 miles (or 320 kms) from their GPS location.URL and admin details please, the logout link should be there.
There is no shortcode for that.

That allows you to choose a default category for the listing and that should change the marker.
