Maybe there is a possibility if you reserve a special category for them, and then filter the detail page for that category.To show the categories in the sidebar of the detail page:
GD > Place (CPT) Settings > custom fields > Field:category (taxonomy) > Show in sidebar > YES.

Content is between or next to the sidebars, and the bottom is at the bottom, so it is indeed intended to work like that.

Can you confirm what settings you have at GD > Permalinks? Are you including full location info with country, region and city slug in listing urls?
Paolo, is this something you can check? I do not have an active FB set up in my test site.
This seems similar to a bug ages ago, that would send links for new listings to admin using the default location.You can redirect the unfriendly URLs to a friendly one using https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/
You could use tags if you add them yourself to every listing and do not allow your users to add any.
I’ll hand over to Paolo for your other questions:
1. Is there a way to use this same custom field on multiple custom post types?
2. Is there anyway to add an extra field to locations so you can have continent-country-region-city?
