The homepage issue is because V2 does not have homepage, so reverting will fix that, or if you convert then review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/getting-started/front/
Thanks

ThanksThe next step is to upgrade or to revert to V1. Have a look at the message you screenshotted or review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/upgrade-from-gdv1/
Thanks
I corrected your WP permalinks, they were set to custom, using “/news-stories/%postname%/”, but they need to be set to “Post name”.
I also corrected
GD > Settings > Design tab > Archives sub-tab > Page template file override
That was set to some custom template that does not work for GD.Thanks
Please turn of WordFence if we need to have a look.
Also clarify what you need help with. Thanks

If you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply of the V2 site, we can check it out for you. Thanks
This reply has been marked as private.Yes, but the listings are getting associated with the categories.
Every listing must be in at least one category to work correctly, so what is the problem?
This reply has been marked as private. This reply has been marked as private. In your WP admin area, go to your Users page.
When hovering or clicking on “edit” have a look the URL. The URL will show the user ID for that user. Thanks
That doesn’t do it.
What doesn’t do what?
How can I find the authors listed to enter into the authors field
In your list of users.
Correction: GD > Status > Tools > Term counts
Thanks
We can set the field unrequired but then nothing will work anymore.
A listing MUST have a region.
So the choice is:1. Make the field UNREQUIRED and break everything.
2. Get your users to add a region manually which you then can edit [and it will be available for other users in the future to select from], see image 1.
3. Pre-add any regions in your Location settings, by adding at least one city in that region, see image 2.
4. Use Google Maps [there are a lot of free calls before you get charged: https://wpgeodirectory.com/google-maps-platform-changes-directory-developers/ ]Thanks
Each sorting option runs one by one.
So if you set sort A-Z, then all your listings will be sorted alphabetically. That has all of them sorted, so now asking to have some second nested sub-sort does not work, because there is nothing left to sort. Makes sense?
But imagine you have two listings with exactly the same title. An A-Z sort will leave those 2 listings open for some second nested order to do some work, but only on those 2 listings.
So for example, you cannot sort by package within a A-Z sort, because they are all sorted already alphabetically. The package sub-sort has no work to do, UNLESS there are 2 listings with exactly the same title.
Default sort means that is the one the page will be sorted with if a visitor does arrive on the page first time. You can only have one default sort for that.
Hopefully we are a bit clearer now. Let us know.
